Maxi Radio will be celebrating its 5-year anniversary, marking five years of championing Leiden’s underground, contemporary, and often undervalued sound.
For three consecutive days, we’ll be taking over both online and offline spaces across the city. After a 48-hour online streaming marathon, featuring an amazing line-up of organizations and artists, we’ll host a panel discussion and interviews at Wibar, featuring key figures who have shaped and pushed Leiden’s nightlife over the past five years.
We’ll continue the celebrations with a carefully curated club night, bringing together local legends and residents who have helped define our sound over the past five years. Expect dreamy house, driving disco, crisp acid, and euphoric Italo.
This anniversary is also a fundraiser to help keep Maxi Radio afloat and online. We are a mostly DIY, self-funded platform with only limited support from the city council and other partners. To continue doing what we do best, we’ll be launching a crowdfunding campaign via Voordekunst.
On the fourth day, during Midzomernacht, Maxi Radio presents Circadian Rhythm: an audiovisual ambient experience inspired by the natural day-and-night cycle shared by humans and plants. Set within the tranquil surroundings of the Hortus Botanicus Leiden, the performance guides visitors from sunset into the shortest night of the year through ambient soundscapes, subtle light art, and organic visuals. Blending electronic music, botanical inspiration, and immersive scenography, Circadian Rhythm creates a calming shared moment of transition from day to night.
Circadian Rhythm is the perfect space to recover, reset, and gently wind down after the weekend’s celebrations — a low-key closing moment to end our anniversary on a softer note. The event will also be professionally recorded and livestreamed via the channels of Maxi Radio.
