🎉 Congratulations to Jean Blacker, whose book “Arthur, Origins, Identities and the Legendary History of Britain” has been awarded the 2025 Dhira B. Mahoney prize for the best book on Arthurian Studies.

The work addresses how Arthurian histories incorporating the British foundation myth responded to images of individual or collective identity and how those narratives contributed to those identities.
A well-deserved recognition of the significance of Jean’s contribution to the field!

Who says academic publishing's stuffy. Here's our man for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Arjan van Dijk, emulating a painting at a recent book history conference at the University of St Andrews.

We wonder what the painting's venerable Alexander Ferrier Mitchell (professor of Hebrew and Oriental Languages, 1848-1868, and Divinity and Ecclesiastical History, 1868-1894) made of it all? 😉
