There is a powerful and thrilling agenda of breaking down barriers and trying to move forwards in a increasingly dark world.…

Guess what we finished over a year ago. Guess what here are some idiosyncratic year end 2016 lists.

1. = David Bowie - Blackstar / Les Harry's - GGOTs*
2. Yuko Yuko - More Than a Facebook Friend
3. Klara Lewis - Too
4. Maarja Nuut - Une Meeles

9. Melanie de Biasio - Blackened Cities
10. Las Kellies - Friends & Lovers

*2015 but I just don't care. I "got it" in January 2016. The LP that shaped my 2016 for its healing and giving properties.

Best compilations / retrospectives
- I Don't Care - Dutch Punk 1977-1983 Volume 2
- Ludus - Nue Au Soleil
There are no other comps worth buying. Both Amazing.

Best remix
The Membranes - Inner |Sapce / Outer Space - a genius set of reworkings

Gatecrasher
Deutsche Ashram - (need to get the vinyl, played the bandcamp to pieces)

Really enjoyable surprise of 2016
- Sweet Release of Death. Both new LP & recent gigs are a massive, massive leap forward.
Standing on the verge of gettin' it on.

Can't wait 2017
- New Irrational Library (new band is great!)
- New The Homesick

Best new label
- Balkan Veliki - virtually an EP every other day and it's all ace. It can't last.

Best reissue
- Ivy Green. What a record. Ur-punk rock classic.

Best gigz
1. Les Harry's & Friends (WORM, Rotterdam)
2. Sean Noonan (Haldern Pop)
3. Ekke (twice) and Eeter (Tallinn Music Week)
4. Repetitor (MENT, Ljubljana)
5. Yuko Yuko / Sonic Boom (WORM Rotterdam)
6. Torso/Plurex/No Fun Dutch punk gig (Paradiso, Amsterdam)
7. Mario Batkovic, Patty Waters (Le Guess Who, Utrecht)
8. Sauna Youth, KIEFF, Torii (CAB 03 Leiden)
9. Mecano - (Gebr de Nobel, Leiden)
10. The Avonden (in that sh*tty overpriced pseudo Berlin urban beach hang out, de Buurt, Leiden)

Best Festival
A split between Tallinn Music Week, Le Guess Who & Welcome to Village. I'm not choosing. MENT would have been on if I'd have stayed the last day. I'm furious Rewire was at same time as TMW. Furious
