We proudly present the campaign for the 17th edition by offering a poetic and critical reflection on identity, authorship, and digital creation.

The campaign for FASHIONCLASH 2025, developed by ULKUHAN, explores the evolving role of identity and authorship in the age of digital creation. Working at the intersection of fashion, digital technology, and critical design, Ülkühan Akgül constructed a series of AI-generated portraits and still lifes, each representing a symbolic archetype—such as The Poet, The Performer, and The Designer. These archetypes reflect the participating designers and are each accompanied by a poem, forming a multi-sensory narrative in which text, image, and digital process converge.

Rooted in Ülkühan’s conceptual and speculative design practice, the campaign challenges conventional fashion aesthetics by asking: who creates, who is seen, and how is identity visualized? This multimedia composition reflects FASHIONCLASH’s mission to foster interdisciplinary exchange and critical reflection, while serving as a visual and poetic gateway to the 2025 edition. It invites audiences to engage with new forms of storytelling that blur the lines between human and machine, self and ownership, creator and representation.

Stay tuned for updates, program announcements, and more glimpses of the campaign visuals.

Throwback to the very first FASHIONCLASH Festival — 2009 🖤

From June 27 to July 5, FASHIONCLASH Maastricht took over the city of Maastricht — with the raw, industrial Timmerfabriek as the main stage.

The inaugural edition already embraced a multidisciplinary vision, showcasing fashion as a true art form — through shows, exhibitions, films, performances, and a public window display route that brought fashion to the streets and made it accessible to a wide audience.
The festival launched The Clash Project, curated in collaboration with Matylda Krzykowski — inviting artists and designers from outside the fashion world to create wearable pieces. This concept became a beloved recurring program, running annually for 10 editions.
The opening weekend featured the fashion show program, including the graduation show of the Maastricht Institute of Arts, followed by a week-long exhibition.

Among the first participants: Elisa van Joolen, Jimmy Paul, Nathalie Vanheule, Lonneke van der P***n, Levi van Veluw, Tanja Ritterbex, Valentina Vos, Linda Valkeman, Joost Horward, Christian Lagerwaard, Linda Maissan, Lisa Klappe, Leonid Babiichuck, Jan Taminiau, Linda Friesen, Hester Flamings, Angelo van Mol, Maartje Dijkstra, Femke Agema, Irene Heldens, Giorgio Toppin (XHOSA), Maryam Kordbacheh, Daisy Kroon — and FASHIONCLASH founders Nawie Kuiper, Laurens Hamacher, Els Petit-Carapiet & Branko Popovic.
