BlockParty– Full Programme ✨

Join us this Sunday for the Blockparty, a free contemporary public square party and part of Maastrichtjaar💥

During the opening, visitors can enjoy musical performances by students of , a (free) community picnic with food and drinks, workshops and the official unveiling of the complete TexTiles tapestry. The programme also includes the announcement of the TexTiles winner, whose work will become part of the permanent collection of , and a Pop up Choir performance ‘Heart Song of Democracy’ by

The afternoon continues with ‘EUROPE BUT FASHION’ a fashion performance featuring students from wearing outfits made by participants in the Pop up Atelier, lectures by Johan Adriaensen on European Membership: United in Diversity (in both Dutch and English) performances by and a performance by with ‘THE FIRE AT THE END OF MY THROAT’ the day concludes with a drag performance by .maas

“Toen mijn opa net overleden was, zag ik op een bankje een ijsvogel. Ik dacht: dit is een teken. Deze is voor jou, opa.” ✨

Tijdens een TexTiles-workshop van FASHIONCLASH verwerkte een deelnemer dit moment in een TexTile: een textieltegel. In het werk ‘Fly free with the living fisher’  krijgt een persoonlijke herinnering een plek in stof en draad, als onderdeel van een groter verhaal over leven, verlies en vrijheid in Europa.

Op de communitypagina van FASHIONCLASH op Ons Limburgs Museum lees je hoe dit soort persoonlijke momenten onderdeel worden van het groeiende TexTiles-kleed, waarin individuele verhalen samenkomen tot één geheel.

💥 Save the date: op 7 juni komt alles samen tijdens de TexTiles BlockParty op Plein 1992 in Maastricht.

Tijdens deze gratis publieke viering wordt het volledige TexTiles-kleed onthuld, met performances, workshops, een modeshow en een picknick. Naast de onthulling is er die dag ook ruimte om zelf een TexTile te maken en onderdeel te worden van het werk.

Science Fashion — A Recap from Rome
– 13–15 May 2026

Last week FASHIONCLASH directors, and .carapiet , attended Science Fashion, a three-day conference, exhibition and programme at MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, curated by Dobrila Denegri as part of her ongoing multi-year project .fashion.art
It brought together an impressive range of international voices at the intersection of fashion, science, and emerging technologies. A great encounter with new insights, new people, and a lot to think about.

Els Petit-Carapiet and Branko Popovic presented Fashion Makes Sense: Social Design in Practice, a session on FASHIONCLASH’s ongoing programme of social design and co-creation projects.

OPEN CALL - New Fashion Narratives exhibition: ‘Fleshy, slimy, wobbly’ ✨
 
We are looking for works that don’t fit neatly. Works that leak, mutate, and resist easy categorisation.
 
If your practice slips between forms, refuses fixed labels, or operates in the margins, this call is for you.
 
The curatorial concept for this year’s edition was developed by , , , and during a Residency Week in April 2026. With ‘Fleshy, slimy, wobbly’, they aim to bring together works that move between forms, refuse fixed categorisation, and slip through the cracks of dominant systems.
 
With this open call, we invite you to show the residual, the glitch, and the parts that resist neat framing. We are interested in work where substance oozes from the seams. The selected works will be presented as part of the exhibition at during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2026.
 
We welcome practices related to fashion in the broadest sense of the word, including design, performance, film, writing, textiles, sculpture, photography, jewellery, animation, sound, digital work, painting, and beyond.
 
If it does not fit, it might be exactly what we are looking for.

Open call: The CLASH House ✨ 
Did you miss the Bootcamp? You can still apply.

FASHIONCLASH invites a new generation of fashion makers to apply for The CLASH House 2026 — a trajectory and showcase exploring the intersection of fashion and performing arts, as part of FASHIONCLASH Festival 2026 (13–15 November, Maastricht).

The Bootcamp phase has already taken place, but applications remain open for fashion makers who missed it and want to join the trajectory from the Concept Application phase onwards.

Are you a fashion maker open to experimenting with presentation formats and creating immersive, performative work?

Possible outcomes include:
– performative fashion presentations
– interdisciplinary works combining fashion, dance or theatre
– immersive storytelling experiences
– experimental formats engaging audience interaction

Each selected participant will follow a coaching trajectory, including development sessions, artistic guidance and collaboration with a theatre maker, leading up to the final presentation.

One of FASHIONCLASH projects is featured in Passaasj Parkstad, a group exhibition at schunck_glaspaleis Museum in Heerlen that brings together 100 artists and makers from the Parkstad and Limburg region — professional and non-professional, established and emerging, side by side.
