VOTE FOR ME!! There are so many other wonderful people on this list, however I don't usually ask for much – but I am asking for this.
It has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone at RTV Maastricht, not only have we faced the pandemic together in our crucial role as a local public service broadcaster, we have also faced potentially devastating budget cuts that almost saw us off.
We persisted.
A vote for me on this list is a vote for inclusive local journalism, a vote to continue to hear the voice of the people whatever language they speak, and a vote to raise awareness for inclusivity in general, for diversity in local representation and understanding across cultures, across the board.
Everything I have done in this past year for News in English has been to ensure access to unbiased, unembellished, clear and up-to-date news and information – something that is unfortunately not available to everyone.

It was an honour and a joy to be one of the first guests on Radio Perolas last night – 's newest online programming – "where we ignite each other with viral ideas and inspiration" – live streamed from the heart of our stunning city.

There are nowhere near enough minutes in an hour to be able to convey each aspect of my years of hard work, the complex history behind my stories nor the motivation for my passions, however host Jean-Paul Toonen expertly guided our conversational journey seamlessly from one topic to another.

From my family's convict beginnings in Australia to building online news platform Meuse-Rhine Gazette, from the way of eating to supporting Maas Cleanup's ideas to grant the Maas "environmental personhood", from fellow inspiration-seeker Tom Bilyeu (who reminds me of my broertje Euge Power) to my groundbreaking work creating News in English - RTV Maastricht, from my admiration of SheDecides founder Lilianne Ploumen to the witch trials of Roermond in 1613-1614 and why there's been no exonerations or monuments built; we fit it all in – just about.

The interview is in Dutch (well the best Dutch I can muster anyway) so seek some translation assistance if required (or just listen to Max).
