Psychonaut Records is founded in 1999 by Dutch rock band the Gathering Independent, Psychonaut Records is founded in 1999 by Dutch rock band the Gathering.

The Gathering all started as musicians, in a band. The fun of playing and being together as a group of friends is very important. As the band became bigger and more successful they obviously noticed the harsh business-world wanting a big piece of the band and so they learnt, probably the hard way, to survive as creative minds in ‘the real world’. After years of making music for other record-compan

ies and fulfilling contracts they decided to try and take on that part of releasing albums themselves. So they formed ‘Psychonaut Records’ with the idea to release their own music in such a way that the creativity and honesty of the music is number one. Daily business at Psychonaut Records is run by the band for promotional & artist management and Paulus Tops who is handling the financial and sales management. The first release on Psychonaut Records was the Gathering's first CD ‘Always...’ in 1999, and since 2003, almost all new material by the Gathering has been released by Psychonaut Records.
