We are back with a concert review for you all! Psychonaut 4 – Mourning Over Britannia Tour ⚔️

The wailing, the alcohol, the drugs, the violence. Yep I’m back in Glasgow for another gig. This time for a touch of the Georgian depressive suicidal black metal band Psychonaut 4. The weather has become colder, a storm has hit this week, the days are getting darker and darker – what a fitting show for kicking off October.

We got a new review for you! Finistère – Am Grauen Meer ⚔️

Another week, another German black metal band to write about (honestly between Der Weg, Great Sea, Grab and these guys, Germany has been absolutely killing it the past 12 months).

Finistère is a easy W for someone like myself. The riffs are great, the productions spot on, it’s not remotely tropey. I honestly can’t find anything to fault with this release. If you’re a fan of the aforementioned Der Weg Einer Freiheit (who I have to assume are an influence here) then you’ll very likely enjoy this.

We are back with a new review for you! Francis Forth – Left to Save⚔️

Fransis Forth is a Melodic Death/Black Metal band from Sofia, Bulgaria. Founded in 2012 by guitarist and then vocalist Ord Ost. Producing one demo “track—“Left to Save”—before going dormant until 2024. The band was revived with a new lineup featuring Cindy Ostheart (vocals), Pavel Rekarski (keyboards), Nikolay Kalachev (drums), Meto Pavlov (bass), Veselin Shterev (guitars), and Ord Ost (lead guitar).

We are back with a new review! Chovu – Ufalme Wa Mali⚔️

Chovu is a Shamanic Black Metal band from Nairobi, Kenya. Formed in 2019, the band takes inspiration from ancient African mythology and fuses it with the sounds of raw black metal to craft something unique. They released their debut album What Sorcery is This? in 2020. After an EP; Moran and 3 split albums; Chovu is back with their follow up full Length album Ufalme Wa Mali.

The band itself shouldn’t need any introduction I think as this will be their forth full album, but to be honest, I first became aware of the by the time of their second album. I don’t have much familiarity withth their first album Path to Darkness

We got a new review for you all! All Stars Are Dead – Solace In Surrender⚔️

All Stars Are Dead is a post black metal band that started out just last year in Nürenberg, Germany. Their style and themes vary a bit from song to song as their guitar player is a big fan of classical music and tries to incorporate that into their compositions as evident in songs like The Waves or Sunrise. The lyrics cover a whole spectrum of themes ranging from depression to animal cruelty as well as sci-fi. On a side note, Chris the guitar player also plays for Totenlegion.

At this point I’m sure Der Weg… probably doesn’t need much introduction to regular BMZ readers. The German quarter has been consistently releasing sick release after sick release since 2009. Throughout each release you can tell these dudes have been sharpening the blade so to speak in terms of what they want to say and how they want to sound, this release is no exception and develops on from the more post punk vibe of their 2021 effort Noktvrn

We got a brand new festival review from the one and only Vfor5 ⚔️

It was the first time I attended this festival and it was unmissable since it was so close to
Thessaloniki. The second day of Rockwave had a very special lineup. My biggest anticipation was
to see the first band that would play, Hail Spirit Noir, one of the few widely traveled Greek
bands I had heard so much about in the past, but had never had the chance to see, even though
we live in the same city.

We got a new review for you all! Esoctrilihum - Ghostigmatah – Spiritual Rites of the Psychopomp Abxulöm ⚔️

On Ghostigmatah, Esoctrilihum captures the essence of fu**ed up madness that made the original wave of one man black metal like Leviathan so sick. The whole thing is deeply unhinged and immersive into it’s insane world. The song writing’s great, production sounds solid (with a special mention having to go to the weird but sick drum sound).

We got a new exclusive review for you all today! Slagmaur - Hulders Ritual ⚔️

Slagmaur is a band I have been following for a long time. Allready when Von Rov Shelter was in the works, I was sent ideas and gave my feedback, I believe I was most likely the band’s first fan.

Therefore I was lucky enough to receive a copy months before the album is due to be released. I was both intrigued and sceptical because I worried I would not enjoy it like I have enjoyed their previous releases.
