Arron Villaflor Finds Mentorship and Inspiration in Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro
PASAY CITY, Philippines — Newly elected Board Member Arron Villaflor expressed his excitement and gratitude upon learning that he can turn to the Province of Cebu for guidance as he embarks on his journey in public service.
During a recent meet-and-greet held at Heritage Hotel in Pasay City, Villaflor met with Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro, one of the rising young leaders in Philippine politics. Upon learning that Villaflor shares Visayan roots, Governor Baricuatro warmly welcomed him and extended an open invitation to visit her office in Cebu.
“We share the same faith. We had no political machinery, no large campaign funds—just people who believed in our ability to serve,” Baricuatro told Villaflor, reflecting on their similar grassroots victories in the 2025 midterm elections.
Baricuatro, dubbed the "Lumad Probinsyana," is known for her historic win against a seasoned political figure in Cebu. With a background in Political Science and three years of law studies, she rose from humble beginnings in Pinamungajan, Cebu, propelled by the overwhelming support of ordinary citizens who saw her sincerity and leadership potential.
Villaflor congratulated Governor Baricuatro on her inspiring win and expressed how deeply encouraged he felt by their conversation. “Knowing that I can call on the Province of Cebu anytime for guidance means so much. Governor Pam’s story gives hope to many young leaders like me,” Villaflor shared.
Their encounter marked the beginning of what could be a meaningful exchange of ideas and collaboration among the country’s new generation of public servants—rooted in shared values, humble beginnings, and a genuine desire to serve the people.
