Priority: Food and Nutrition Security

"The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison.” - Ann Wigmore

According to the Global Hunger Index 2024, 5.9% of the population in the Philippines suffers malnutrition or is undernourished. Additionally, 26.7% of children under five years old are stunted or short for their age.

These numbers showcase the state of malnutrition in the country. These people, these children, do not receive the proper nutrients that they need.

Despite the high percentage of malnutrition in 2024, Philippines had an improvement compared to the statistics from the previous years. However, these numbers are a reflection of a problem and a data of those who are still suffering from being undernourished.

To raise awareness and highlight the crucial role healthy lifestyle plays in an individual’s life, Nutrition Month is celebrated in the Philippines during the month of July. This program aims to provide sufficient food and nutrition to Filipinos.

Furthermore, good nutrition starts at home and it is very important for the health of the family. The nation should be educated about healthy eating habits and its impact on their overall well-being.

Game is On! The Search for the Next Smashers Begins!

Fellow aspiring smashers of CSHSB from grade 8 to grade 10 lined up in hopes to maneuver their shuttles beyond the net in order to earn a spot on Badminton Club (Boys Single), held at Guevarra Social Hall, July 2, 2025.

With only 2 spots to scramble for, each participant showcased their powerful smashes and agile footwork, displaying both unwavering focus and determination—dedicated to securing a spot, one or two.

Going against members of CSHSB Smashers as well as Sir MarcoPolo himself was a challenge to the aspiring athletes—but not a defeat. With exceptional skills, each was able to overcome such a challenge.

The screening was held not only to spot promising talents and remarkable athletes but also to introduce Comsayanos to the world of sports.

The Hyperlink Campus Journalist Screening Draws Aspiring Writers

The Comsayanos journalist applicants from Grade 7 to 10 gathered for the screening on June 30 to July 1, 2025, to earn a spot in this year’s official school publication team.

The screening included different categories such as news writing, feature writing, column writing, copyreading, headline writing, sports writing, editorial cartooning, and radio broadcasting to showcase their creativity and accuracy.

Each student participated in a written evaluation to assess their skills and creativity, to recognize how much more they can display and develop their potential. During the event, applicants were given fact sheets based on real journalistic scenarios to test their ability to write with clarity, objectivity, and style under time pressure.

The screening was held to encourage Comsayanos and discover young talents who are passionate about writing.

This evaluation is not only meant to discern new writers but to determine who will be the new members of the Hyperlink family, marking their engagement in this year’s publication cycle and their promise as the next generation of campus journalists.

Two weeks have already passed after Brigada Eskwela but it's never too late to recognize the efforts made by students and volunteers. Let's take a moment to feature people who made Brigada Eskwela successful in their own little ways.

Brigada Eskwela: Building Bright Beginnings

Students exert effort to prepare themselves for the first day of school and to ensure comfortability, school facilities must also be ready to welcome them to another journey full of knowledge and memories.

Dust being swept away by students and volunteers, streaks left on cleaned windows and boards, and soap bubbles formed from washing used curtains and cloth — these are traces of the preparations made for the students and teachers to create a space that feels refreshing, and ready for learning.

Throughout the week of Brigada Eskwela, volunteers gave their time and energy in cleaning classrooms and collecting learning materials. It united first-time classmates as well as parents and guardians.

Delan Llorente, a Grade 10 student who participated from first day up to the last day, said, “I enjoyed cleaning the room alone with music… It was fun helping other teachers.. I learned to manage my time more carefully because I could have done it faster.” His experience reflects the sense of responsibility that is developed during the Brigada Eskwela.

Furthermore, Brigada Eskwela is more than just cleaning and preparing for another adventurous school year ahead, it fosters teamwork, communication, and connection. It plays a pivotal role on the foundation of a productive learning journey.
