⛵ SAIL Amsterdam 2025 Begins 🇳🇱✨
Today marks the opening of SAIL 2025, the Netherlands’ iconic maritime festival held once every five years. The waters of the IJ in Amsterdam have transformed into a living seascape, where dozens of towering tall ships sail alongside modern naval vessels, luxury yachts, and traditional Dutch craft. It is one of the largest nautical parades in the world, drawing millions of visitors to the city’s waterfront.
Since its first edition in 1975, SAIL has become a cherished tradition celebrating both maritime heritage and innovation. Historic square-riggers, once used to transport goods and explorers across the globe, now sail proudly beside sleek high-tech ships, offering a breathtaking view of past and future converging on the same horizon.
Beyond the opening parade, the festival invites visitors to step aboard vessels, meet international crews, and enjoy cultural performances along the harbor. More than just a spectacle, SAIL is a reflection of the Netherlands’ enduring bond with the sea and a rare chance to see history in motion against the backdrop of Amsterdam’s skyline.
