Yesterday the Dutch herring fleet was launched at our Ships Lift. Every year KOTUG SMIT Towage keeps this Dutch tradition alive at the Herring Party for their loyal clients. As a bonus their tugboat Hampshire was lifted and presented to 600 guests. We couldn't be more proud that Kotug Smit Towage chose our site to celebrate this special event. But let's be honest... who wouldn't with this spectacular view!

Back in the old days! In 1902 the RDM (Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij) was founded and became one of the biggest shipyards in Europe. Before World War II a lot of submarines and warships were built and repaired here. Luckily this interesting history has been kept alive! The place where our Ships Lift is located now, was used more than a hundred years ago as a shipway to lift ships out of the water. Step back in time with these beautiful pictures of the RDM grounds a hundred years ago!
