For twenty years, Convict has stood strong as one of the longest-running hardcore concepts from Friesland. What began as a birthday project became a movement, built on dedication to the music and the community that lives and breathes hardcore. We never chased profit or fame, only the feeling of unity that happens when the bass kicks in.
But times are changing, and not for the better. Finding venues has become a nightmare. Prices for locations, equipment, and artists are rising to the point of breaking us. On top of that, every step is slowed by permits, rules, and layers of bureaucracy that don’t understand what this culture stands for. Hardcore was born out of resistance, out of the desire to be free, and yet we are constantly being pushed into corners by regulations and costs that threaten our existence.
Convict has always been non-profit, fueled only by love for the scene. Every euro we "earned" went back into the events, streams, into the artists, into keeping hardcore alive.
2025 has been one of the hardest years in our history. With three cancelled events, it feels like blow after blow. Every cancelled event is more than just a date lost on the calendar, It’s a night stolen from the people who live for this culture, and from us who give everything to make it happen.
Still, we refuse to surrender. Hardcore is about standing tall when everything pushes you down. It’s about resilience, about fighting for what you believe in, no matter the obstacles. And that’s what Convict will keep doing. This is not the end, it’s a turning point.
We will find a way forward. Because hardcore is more than just music. It’s a culture, a family, a way of life. And as long as there are people who feel the beat pounding in their chest and believe in what we do, Convict will keep pushing.
Against the odds, against the system, for the love of hardcore.
ALWAYS!
Keep the vibe alive!
