South African Start up WhereIsMy Transport raises $14.5m. WhereIsMyTransport, has finally raised $14.5 million in a Series A extension round. The total amount raised by the company during its Series A funding has come to $22 million. WhereIsMy Transport was founded in 2016, The start-up helps people understand mobility in emerging-market megacities. The company maps formal and informal public transport networks and then uses the data obtained to improve the public transport experience, making commutes safe and accessible.

South African Telecom giant MTN Group to exit the Middle East in a bid to focus on African market segments

MTN outoging CEO Rob Shuter, who is heading for a new role with BT has announced that, the African telecom giant will leave the Middle East market and focus mainly on the African market segments. Discussions are underway with TeleInvest to sell its 75 per cent stake in MTN Syria. TeleInvest owns the other 25 per cent stake in the operator. It is said further that, MTN will initially sell its operations in Asian markets like Yemen and Afghanistan before offloading its 49% stake in MTN Irancell.
