⚠️It’s a warm day here in 🇳🇱. But that also means that the creepy crawlers come out to play.
To protect yourself from ticks, take these precautions:
1. Wear protective clothing: When in tick-prone areas, wear long sleeves, long pants, and tuck your pants into your socks to minimize exposed skin.
2. Use insect repellent: Apply EPA-approved insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, or IR3535 on exposed skin or clothing to repel ticks.
3. Perform tick checks: After spending time outdoors, thoroughly check your body, clothing, and pets for ticks. Pay attention to hidden areas like the scalp, groin, and underarms.
4. Remove ticks properly: If you find a tick attached to your skin, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp it as close to the skin's surface as possible. Pull upward with steady pressure to remove the tick, then clean the area with soap and water.
5. Seek medical attention if needed: If you experience symptoms like a rash, fever, or flu-like illness after a tick bite, consult a healthcare professional. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications.
