In Memoriam: Ljubiša Stojanović LOUIS (1952 – 2011)
Fourteen years without the voice, the soul, the King.
Today marks fourteen years since the passing of Ljubiša Stojanović Louis — one of Serbia’s most beloved and unique voices. A true artist, a gentleman, and a pioneer who blended traditional Balkan sounds with jazz, pop, and soul, creating a signature style that touched generations across the region and beyond.
I had the great privilege and honor of working with Louis on what would become his final studio album, The Last King of Balkans. It was more than just a musical project — it was a celebration of identity, rhythm, heritage, and heart. Watching him in the studio, I saw a true professional at work: focused, inspired, and tireless in his pursuit of beauty through music.
But beyond the brilliance of his talent, Louis was something even more rare — a kind, warm-hearted man, full of laughter, empathy, and grace. A loving husband, a generous collaborator, and a loyal friend with a soul that radiated light.
He had a way of making you feel seen and valued, even in the smallest exchange. That energy, that spirit, lives on — in every note he recorded, in every performance etched in memory, and in every heart he touched.
Louis may be gone from our sight, but his voice remains, echoing in the airwaves, in our playlists, in our homes — timeless and powerful. His legacy is not only in his music, but in the love and respect he left behind.
We miss you, Louis.
Thank you for the music, the laughter, and the friendship.
You truly were — and always will be — The Last King of Balkans.
