Donderdag 18 september om 22.20 uur is Het Muziekmedicijn te zien bij Omroep MAX op NPO 2!
Onze nieuwste documentaire Het Muziekmedicijn laat zien dat muziek voor mensen met dementie een wonderbaarlijke bron van troost, vitaliteit én hoop is. Ruim twee jaar lang volgde regisseur Frénk van der Linden voormalig operazangeres & trainer Maartje de Lint en onderzoeker Betty Tijms van het Alzheimercentrum Amsterdam. Maartje werkt met mensen met dementie om via zang en muziek troost en verbinding te bieden, terwijl Betty onderzoekt hoe muziek het brein beïnvloedt en mogelijk een bijdrage kan leveren aan de oplossing voor dementie. Het Muziekmedicijn legt de bijzondere relatie tussen muziek en dementie op innemende wijze vast en toont dat er zelfs in een donkere periode lichtpuntjes te vinden zijn.

Hun rijke ervaring en kennis van de creatieve industrie heeft internationaal prijswinnende films opgeleverd. Zoals de speelfilm Boy Ecury van schrijver Arthur Japin en regisseur Frans Weisz (Gouden Kalf voor Beste Muziek), de lange non-fictie film Zielen van Napels van Vincent Monnikendam (Kristallen film en 30+ festivals waaronder Tribeca Film Festival), de korte film Schat van Tamar van den Dop (Nederlandse Oscar-inzending), en de lange documentaire Verdwaald in het Geheugenpaleis (ca. 40.000 bezoekers in Nederland en België).

Managing Director Cécile van Eijk and producer/director Sherman De Jesus are both creative and finance professionals and film producers. Our rich and practical understanding of the creative industries enables us to deliver prizewinning films to a world audience.
This has involved the prize-wining films Boy Ecury with writer and director Arthur Japin and Frans Weisz and Souls of Naples, with director Vincent Monnikendam which screened at more then thirty international film festivals. Tulip Time, an international coproduction with Rai and Istituto Luce and Izaline Calister - Lady Sings the Tambú.
Cécile van Eijk has worked in the screen industries for 24 years. She started out as a communication and public relations professional, before teaching audiovisual Communication at the University of Utrecht and producing films with directors like Ger Poppelaars and Sherman De Jesus.
She founded Memphis Film & Television in 1992 joining forces with producer and director Sherman De Jesus. Her work at the company has ranged across all areas of expertise, consulting, developing scripts for drama and documentary productions, financing and producing.
In 1983 van Eijk obtained a Master in Social Sciences at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Van Eijk has followed a management training for producers at the Maurits Binger Film Institute, Amsterdam and she is a board member of the Cultural Institute ‘t Hoogt, Utrecht.
Award-winning director Sherman De Jesus started in the seventies making many hours documentaries for television and theatrical release, besides writing scripts and producing feature films. Sherman De Jesus is one of the founders and first director of the Dutch Film Festival; he also launched the first Dutch Film Market and, in 1985 and initiator of the Cinema Militans Lecture. He was a member of the Golden Calf jury, a member of the steering group of the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam and was a board member and Treasurer of the Dutch Cultural Broadcasting Fund.
