“New interpretation of Danish classic”

“Danish fisheries control and rescue ships have a particular tradition of being beautiful ships. Just look at the current ‘Ny Vestkysten’ (West Coast) that is to be replaced by a new-build at Hvide Sande Shipyard. But the generation before, ‘Nordjylland’ (North Jutland) and ‘Nordsøen’ (North Sea), built in Frederikshavn in 1967 and 1968, are considered by many as pure classics.

That is why, back in 2009, ‘Nordjylland’ came close to be refitted, extremely respectfully, into a luxury yacht, by the Dutch design studio Werner Yacht Design. “We were contacted by the owner who just had bought the ship. When I visited the ship, I immediately realized that she had great potential to be converted into an expedition yacht.”, says yacht designer Theo Werner to Maritime. However, the project never materialized completely. That is why ‘North Jutland’ remains with the original appearance under the name ‘Poseidon IV’. But the old Danish ship made an impression on Theo Werner. That is why his design studio is now designing an expedition yacht concept for a new-build, based on dimensions and the profile of the old Danish ship. It should have been presented at Monaco Yacht Show this year if it wasn’t for the cancelation of the show due to the Covid19.

‘Nordjylland’ left it Danish Ship Register in 2002, when it was bought by a Marshall Icelandic company. The 1-year younger sister was, according to The Danish Maritime Authority's Ship Register, sold to a Norwegian company in 2019.”

The global situation with respect to Covid-19 has led to the cancelation of the Monaco Yacht Show 2020. What was to be the 30th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show has been postponed with 1 year. Very unfortunate, but very sensible nevertheless. We very much look forward to welcoming you to the 30th Monaco Yacht Show from September 22 to 25, 2021 on the Port Hercule of Monaco.

The 79’ Eleonore is up for sale. This Werner Yacht Design was delivered by Mulder Shipyard, The Netherlands, in 2009. Build to Lloyd’s SSC-G6 and CE-A rules and regulations, to a standard that is commonly only seen on superyachts. Despite her relatively small size, she was nominated for the 2010 for the prestigious International Superyacht Society’s Awards.
