Butterfly Conservation Europe

Butterfly Conservation Europe Butterfly Conservation Europe aims to prevent the extinction of any species of butterfly and moth, especially in Europe.

Working on their conservation, improving status and halt decline of butterflies and their habitats. Butterflies and moths are declining seriously in most countries across Europe. Action is needed urgently at a European level to halt their decline and restore a countryside rich in butterflies, moths and other wildlife. Organisations and friends in various countries across Europe have therefore come together to form Butterfly Conservation Europe.

To improve eBMS feedback and monitoring experience🦋, we want to identify the recorder motivations and provide better feedback from eBMS collected data.

For this purpose, we have produced a survey for eBMS recorders to complete, or/and . It is available in several languages and only takes a few minutes😊We would like to get to know eBMS recorders better, so please take a few minutes to complete the survey! 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 23 𝗢𝗰𝘁

Not the first one, not the only one and certainly not the last one: a blue butterfly lost due to human impact. The Xerxes blue used to fly in the San Francisco area, but the growing city swallowed its habitat. The Xerxes Society keeps the memory of this butterfly alive though we will never see it fluttering around again.🦋

💔We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jane Goodall, whose extraordinary life and pioneering research transformed the field of conservation and deepened our understanding of the natural world.
Her work and effort to advocate for human rights, animal welfare, species and environmental protection was enormous. A great reference for everyone, especially young people. Her legacy will live on forever ✨ Thank you for everything

Welcome October 🍂🍁
Many adult butterflies have disappeared with the decrease in temperature, but there are still some butterflies and moths flying around. This is particularly true of species that overwinter in the adult stage or have a late generation. 🦋🦋

Butterfly Conservation is a British charity devoted to saving butterflies, moths and their habitats throughout the UK.

The GrasslandButterflyIndicator GBI has been calculated and published for Germany. It is so important to have this indicator because of its political relevance: in the Nature Restoration Regulation, the GBI is one of the possibilities to measure improvements for biodiversity in the agricultural landscape. Congratulations to our butterfly friends in Germany! 🦋🐝🐞🐜🌼🌸

We are happy to share this on a political level very important paper from our team - The Grassland Butterfly Index for Germany. Especially for the last ten years the results show a negativ trend for grassland butterflies in Germany https://doi.org/10.3897/natureconservation.59.162812 .net ...

🦋 September belongs to the swallowtail, resembling to the current yellow of most of the vegetation around us.

𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘯 🦋 Swallowtail has an incredible pattern, striking yellow-black markings that are difficult to confuse with those of other species. It lives in open, structured landscapes 🌿and males of this species exhibit hill-topping behaviour. ⛰ They also seek out plants on which to lay their eggs 🥚 such as bear root, cumin, wild carrots or garden plants such as dill, fennel and carrots are also accepted. 🪴

We love these types of posts from Tagfalter-Monitoring Deutschland Thank you for explaining the species in such a nice way.
