Another legendary duo recording is here and out today!

Step back to July 1978, when saxophonist Eric Kloss and pianist Barry Miles delivered an unforgettable live performance in Bremen, Germany. Captured at the height of their creative powers, this remarkable concert was immediately hailed by critics as one of the finest jazz duo performances ever heard in the city. Their acclaimed appearance at the Berliner Jazztage only confirmed their extraordinary chemistry, intensity, and fearless improvisation.

On Kloss Encounters – Live in Bremen 1978, Barry Miles’ expressive acoustic piano meets Eric Kloss’ soaring alto saxophone in a performance that showcases two exceptional artists at their very best. Miles, a pioneer of early jazz fusion, would soon become Roberta Flack’s musical director, while Kloss—blind from birth and already a Prestige recording artist at just sixteen—had established himself as one of the most gifted improvisers of his generation.

The album features original compositions including “Mystic Circles,” “Kloss Encounters,” and “Michelle,” alongside the timeless standard “My One and Only Love” by Guy Wood and Robert Mellin.

Now available for the first time on vinyl, Kloss Encounters – Live in Bremen 1978 also includes brand-new liner notes by Timeless Records founder Wim Wigt.

Out today! Timeless Records’ 50th Anniversary Release: Pharoah Sanders & John Hicks - Duo Concert Frankfurt 1986.

The musical relationship between Pharoah Sanders and John Hicks stands among the most deeply connected in jazz. By 1986, Pharoah’s fiery, 1960s free-jazz intensity had evolved into something deeply lyrical—reaching spiritual heights through single, perfectly placed notes.
To document this evolution, he needed a partner who didn’t just back him up, but truly listened. Stripped of bass and drums, John Hicks was the perfect match. He locks into hypnotic, cyclical piano figures here, giving Pharoah plenty of room to stretch out.
As Timeless’ founder Wim Wigt puts it: “Two giants at their peak! What makes this such a special concert is that we see here two musicians that play at such ease with their instrument, but also in high intensity.”
That effortless energy carries the entire set. The duo shifts seamlessly from the peaceful glow of “After the Rain” to the understated spiritual power of “The Creator Has A Master Plan/Thembi,” alongside Coltrane classics like “Giant Steps” and originals like “Heart To Heart.” Their chemistry feels totally telepathic. This first-ever vinyl release captures that partnership in its purest form.

The double LP is available now at local record shops and includes brand-new liner notes by jazz journalist Bret Primack, photography by , and artwork design by Joost Leijen.
