This is the machine I made a video about — and now you can see what’s actually hiding underneath that massive green tank. 👀🇳🇱

From the outside, it looks like a huge Dutch manure/slurry tanker. But break it apart and you find a complete system: pumps, hydraulic lines, valves, heavy-duty axles, suspension, massive flotation tyres, distribution hoses, electronics and the spreading equipment.

Suddenly, the price starts making more sense. 😳

This machine isn’t simply a tank with wheels. It’s an entire manure handling and field-application system engineered into one machine.

And that raises the bigger question I talked about in my video: if modern agricultural machinery can cost this much, does every farmer really need to own one? Or should agricultural businesses invest in machines like this and provide services to hundreds of smaller farmers?

That could be one of the more realistic ways of bringing this level of mechanisation to African agriculture.

🥵 Around 350 liters of diesel… just to spread pig manure?! 🚜🇳🇱 We started at 6:30 PM and finished around 11:50 PM — more than 5 hours spreading pig manure across farmland in the Netherlands. What surprised me wasn’t only the massive tractor and machinery, but the amount of time, fuel and work involved in manure management. Working around Dutch pig farming is showing me that what many people simply call “animal waste” is actually a serious part of modern agriculture and nutrient management. Around 350 liters of diesel in one evening. Why does manure spreading require this much work in the Netherlands? 👀
