Each issue of this bi-monthly magazine is based around a theme and contains detailed painting guides, extensive army lists, exciting battle reports and plenty of scenarios for both veteran and beginning wargamers. The magazine is 84 pages long and filled with beautiful original artwork, diagrams, maps and of course lots of mini photos!

Time for a short break of a couple of days. I head back to Amsterdam tomorrow (from Frankfurt) and Saturday is CRISIS 2025 which I should be attending on Saturday if all goes according to plan. It's my first Crisis in the new location and organisation. I might do something on Friday evening, but realistically I don't expect to be posting about Spiel again until Sunday when hopefully I'll finish things off (and then start on Crisis!). I've also got intermittan pain in the back of my right hand which i hope is not RSI or similar, but merely a touch of arthritis.

Essen 2025 - Green Stuff World. Whilst Green stuff world are a well known name to me, I've not seen them at Essen before which might explain why they were out in Hall 4 (the newly opened hall). I've just looked on thier website and the black cloth is for photographing miniatures, and their lights of course of interest given my previous post about the loupes.

Essen 2025 - the Cult of the Celebrity painter - NOT!! Rose Micro Solutions had modelling loupes fro sale. I've got some magnifyling lenses that fold down over my spectacles like sunglasses, but whilst they worked for painting, I found it hard/disorientating to reload paint etc. I tried thise on on day 1, and the secret is to look with a side eye to wash your brush etc, as the width of field is quite narrow when looking through the loupes. Not cheap, even with a special show price, but I'm hopeful of an improvement as i succumbed on the Saturday or Sunday into getting a pair. When I get back home, painting handles and lights are on my list to look at - I've been away from painting for at least 5 years, probably more and feel a bit like a dinosaur.

Essen 2025 - the cult of the celebrity painter - Wavecolors (PK-Pro). I got to speak to Wavecolors least, mostly because Mirquidi was ensuring he secured his copy of the WSS magazine.

Essen 2025 - the cult of the Celebrity painter - Miriquidi (PK-Pro). Miriquidi wanted on the copies of WSS magazine I have to show people what I cover the show for - and I handed it over on Sunday just before the show ended. Miriquidi admitted that he had managed to leave all of his painted figures for display, behind!. We also had a discussion about brushes, with his favourite being Raphael over Windsor and Newton Series 7.

Essen 2025 - the Cult of the Celebrity painter - Ocarinas Maltisch (PK-Pro). Since I saw different painters at different times in the "painting place" then I believe that they took turns to paint and answer questions from the p***c. The red lizard had won a prize at the recent Polaris Con in Hamburg in September.

Essen 2025 - PK-PRO - a sign of the times? This was a new company to me and was selling all sorts of paint and modelling supplies - krautcover basing (with a nice display showing the various types), airbrush supplies, micro sol and milliput etc. Their web site has an English option (the original is German) and is a treasure trove of all sorts of things. There some painted minis on dislpay - more of that later with Celebrity painters - and a few unusual miniatures such as the "cosmic maid" for sale. It remains to be seen if they are back next year, or if other companies in the same area take stands, but for me - along with the other stuff I was seeing - it marked a shift of Hall 1 into the wider world of miniatures and modelling.

Essen 2025 - Vallejo and painting lessons. It looked like these might have been free this year as I didn't see any signs about times and charges (a few years ago I did a D&D wolf that had a charge). It was interesting to see the wet palette in use and the starter paint set.

Essen 2025 - the cult of the celebrity painter (of the future) - Deep cut studios. Lets give this some likes?. There was a small painting area on the edge of the Deep cut studios stand where I used Army Painter paint pens for the first time last year. This young lady and her mum/guardian were deeply engrossed and clearly having fun together when I asked if I could take a picture. I was trying to exclude the young lady from the frame and she kept leaning in, and her mum/guardian said to me "She wants to be in the picture!". Her mum/guardian will be check up that the picture is posted, so lets give this some likes. It's good to see youngsters getting involved in the hobby.
