I haven’t posted a New Years post and like many people I haven’t felt very New Year-zy myself… in fact I was pretty emotional on the last day of 2023. Crying on almost every song ? Hi 🙋🏼♀️ that’s me.
I always tell people, man you gotta toughen up if you want to immigrate. It’s not for the faint of heart, no wonder so many people end up going back to the known. Yes there are so many positive things, but you are also forced to change because you need to adapt otherwise it is very difficult living a new life and you might not be able to push through. Days you wanted to spend with family (birthdays, public holidays, sports events, Christmas and new years) are days where you do question your decision because you miss them so terribly much. But then a new day, week, month follows and you just move forward… I never really want to go back … i always tell Kev i wish we could pick up their homes and just pop it here next to us, because they also deserve this life we have and maybe its a bit selfish but if they were here with us, we wouldn’t want anything else to change.
I was thinking of going into the new year with no goals or resolutions because of how I was feeling… but then I remembered… if you get in your car and drive, there is always a destination…. Otherwise you are just driving around , dwelling between anywhere and nowhere…. It’s important to have vision in your life… me? I have had little vision let me tell you that (the complete opposite of what I used to be like) and the fruits of it has been exactly that. Just stuck in one place dwelling around. People have normalized just “getting through the year” but you are in a car just driving around with no destination… now to me that is pointless and who really wants to live a pointless life on earth?
Having vision and some goals gives you a destination to drive to. It instals hope into our hearts, makes us dream and motivates us… and pushes us forward
So… may this year be fruitful for you in whatever your vision is, may you put in the work that it requires… and let this be your portion:
*Psalm 20:4 “May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”*
