Tō-ji (東寺 Tō-ji?) (East Temple) is a Buddhist temple of the Shingon sect in Kyoto, Japan. It once had a partner, Sai-ji (West Temple) and, together, they stood alongside the Rashomon, gate to the Heian capital. It was formally known as Kyō-ō-gokoku-ji (教王護国寺 The Temple for the Defense of the Nation by Means of the King of Doctrines?) which indicates that it previously functioned as a temple providing protection for the nation. Tō-ji is located in Minami-ku near the intersection of Ōmiya Street and Kujō Street, southwest of Kyoto Station.

Tō-ji was founded in the early Heian period. The temple dates from 796, two years after the capital moved to Heian-kyō. Together with its partner Sai-in, and the temple Shingon-in (located in the Heian Palace), it was one of only three Buddhist temples allowed in the capital at the time, and is the only of the three to survive to the present.

Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. It is located on Australia's south-east coast of the Tasman Sea. As of June 2010, the greater metropolitan area had an approximate population of 4.6 million people. Inhabitants of Sydney are called Sydneysiders, comprising a cosmopolitan and international population.

Sydney's urban area is in a coastal basin, which is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Blue Mountains to the west, the Hawkesbury River to the north and the Royal National Park to the south. It lies on a submergent coastline, where the ocean level has risen to flood deep river valleys (ria) carved in the Hawkesbury sandstone. Port Jackson, better known as Sydney Harbour, is one such ria. The Sydney area is not affected by significant earthquakes.

We love seeing natural architecture here at Inhabitat, and the leafy green Kleven train tunnel is a beautiful example of what happens when nature is allowed to grow freely around manmade infrastructure. The tunnel was made over many years as the passing train molded the trees’ lines. The train turned a luscious piece of woodland into a unique passageway as it traveled back and forth 3 times a day over several years.

In addition to serving as a train route, the tunnel is used by lovers to make a wish – it is said that if they are sincere in their love, their wishes will come true. If you are out and about Ukraine, don’t miss this fantastic green passageway – whether you are with a loved one, or on your own.

The Visovac Monastery (Croatian: Samostan Visovac) is a Catholic (Roman Rite) monastery on the island of Visovac in the Krka National Park, Croatia. Visovac was settled by Augustinian monks, who established a small monastery and church dedicated to the Apostle Paul in the 14th century. In 1445 the Augustinian monastery was enlarged and adapted by the Franciscans who settled here having withdrawn from parts of Bosnia with other, ordinary people, when the Turks had taken over there. A new monastery was built in the 18th century. The rich monastery library includes particularly rare incunabula of Aesop's fables (Brescia 1487) printed by the Lastovo printer Dobri? Dobri?evi? (s. Lastovo), a collection of documents (the sultan'sedicts) and a sabre belonging to Vuk Manduši?, one of the best-loved heroes of Serbian epic poetry. It is part of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer based in Split.

Tanah Lot means "Land [sic: in the] Sea" in the Balinese language.[2] Located in Tabanan, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Denpasar, the temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide.

Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th-century priest Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.[3]

The Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples were established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. However, the temple had significant Hindu influence.

At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. A giant snake purportedly protects the temple, which was created from Nirartha's scarf when he established the island

This restaurant near Sanyou Cave above the Chang Jiang river in Hubei, China looks quite impressive. Not sure if I’d be able to have a proper meal knowing there’s absolutely nothing underneath my table. But if you feel like going there when you’re on a trip and in that region of China please use this info:

Once you leave the Xiling Gorge Three Gorges you should definitely go to the east of the Yangtze River. There you will find a cave of “Three Visits” (Sanyou Cave) on the northern bank of the River. The cave is located 10 kilometers from the city of Yichang. Its great mountains, beautiful rivers, and charming landscapes look like giant paintings. “Three Visits Cave” is located in a deep valley, it is warm in winter and cool in summer with a big and beautiful landscape scenery. The cave is about 30 meters wide and about 9 meters in height. Inside the cave, there are many stalactites and stalagmites on the walls and on the floor. The main cave is divided into two chambers. The chamber near the front is a wide and bright “room”, along the walls there are more than 40 stone masterpiece paintings. Tablets with poems and prose of famous poets, when they travel to this area can still be found. Among them are the inscriptions of Ou Yangxiu, the greatest writer of the Song Dynasty (960 ~ 1279A.D.) and Bo Ju, one of the great poet of the Tang Dynasty (618 ~ 907A.D.). The other chamber is dark and deep with a lot a lot of strange stalactites. If you throw a stone at those stalactites, you can hear the echo sound of a bell, but when the rock falls into the water you can hear the echo sound of the drum. This is one reason, this cave became a tourist attraction. Spring Yu (“Jade Spring”) near the Cave of the Three Travelers is another tourist attractions. Yu Spring is famous for its clean and elegant decor sources. This spring, has earned its reputation and is one of the four best scenic spots three Qi Xia Kitaya.Drugie Temple Nanjing Temple Mount Lingyan. Taishan and Mt. Tiantai. Today, dear reader, you can often find the names of four places in the ancient poems. If you start your tour from the city of Yichang, Three Travellers Cave and Ge Zhou dam are beautiful places that should not be ignored. It is well known that you cannot spend less than a day touring these places. But to keep going you need food. A restaurant has been built next to the Sanyou cave. It is located high up, but the view from there is simply magnificent. So be sure, that you won’t be hungry there

BERRY-HEAD Arch, Canada

This magnificent sea arch is located on the Spurwink Trail, along the East Coast Trail. To get to the arch, find the East Coast Trail trailhead at Port Kirwan. From here, it is about a 4.75-mile one way hike to the arch. The hike is moderate but extreme caution is required at points where the trail skirts the edge of some rather high cliffs.
