SERIOUS SAX SHREDDING & GNARLY BASS LINES!

Krokofant are ready with their 7th album, aptly named "7".

The first taste from the album is the song Forwards which is released today!

The band was struck by tragedy last summer when drummer and best friend Axel Skalstad passed away, but guitarist Tom Hasslan and saxophone player Jørgen Mathisen wanted to honour his name and continue the band.

3 years today since the release of "Bushman's Revenge - All the better for seeing you"!

"What a magnificent piece of work this cleverly written opus by jazz rockers Bushman’s Revenge is. Six beguiling compositions that add something fresh and vital to the genre are what lie in store for you, and there is atmosphere and dynamics in spades throughout not to mention that it is quite possibly the catchiest and most instantly appealing entry in the label’s discography yet, which is rather telling as Is It Jazz? Records have unearthed some phenomenal gems so far." - (5/6 pts) Eternal-terror.com

OUT TODAY!
S*x Magick Wizards - Suola ja Noaidi

The double album Suola ja Noaidi (The Thief and the Shaman) draws on themes of colonisation, weaponised religion and Sámi resilience. Working from this cultural material, S*x Magick Wizards have created a double album combining traditional joik elements with their signature experimental rock sound and freeform avant-garde improvisation. By combining fragments of Northern Sámi from the original poem with new lyrics in both English and Northern Sámi and focusing more heavily on vocals, the band creates a highly distinctive sonic language rarely heard within experimental rock. The album also contains a new interpretation of an old traditional joik from guitarist/singer/joiker Viktor Bomstad’s childhood home, Ivgorášša.

Fresh new single from S*x Magick Wizards!

As announced, Norway’s jazz rockers S*x Magick Wizards will release their new album Suola ja Noaidi on the 4th of September.

With three critically acclaimed albums behind them, their upcoming release Suola ja Noaidi (The Thief and the Shaman) stands as a powerful new statement in Sámi-influenced experimental rock and shows a new chapter for the band.

The third single from the album is the title track for the album, Suola ja Noaidi.

The band has this to say about the song:
Built around a hypnotic, trance-like groove, the track draws subtle inspiration from spiritual music traditions such as Gnawa, combined with an ethereal vocal arrangement. Viktor Bomstad’s joik-influenced vocals, performed in English, move between the perspectives of the Suola (the thief) and the Noaidi (the shaman). The song’s three distinct parts conjure up soft, mellow winds venturing into the dark abyss before the final vengeful and volcanic eruption.

The song also reflects the band’s fascination with historical source material. The middle section is built from translated and reconstructed fragments of a travelling diary written by a crew member sailing with Norwegian King Christian IV during an expedition to Northern Norway and Russia in the 1500s. Christian IV is historically associated with the violent persecution and ex*****on of people accused of witchcraft and sorcery.

The track captures the essence of S*x Magick Wizards: ever-churning riffs and grooves, long-form musical development, and exploratory improvisation balancing light and dark in ritualistic and apocalyptic atmospheres.
