‘All of their things are beautifully recorded, perhaps that’s something that defines them.’

We are deeply humbled by this comment and headline in a recent Gramophone editorial post by Martin Cullingford and James Jolly, in the context of Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester's nomination for Orchestra of the Year, and their mastery behind the mics.

Referenced in particular was the Brahms Requiem album produced by Chandos Records, using our recording services in Grieghallen.

Also highlighted was our production of Mahler 8, which went to movie theaters in Dolby Atmos cinema sound, before hitting NRK TV, and Bergenphilive.

We are extremely grateful for the privilege of working closely with this masterful group! 🧡 And thanks to Chandos Records for the collaboration and trust!

Summer visitors! Marta is one of our assistant engineers at Nobel Lyd, and in June she brought a group of fellow alumni from University of Stavanger Music Production and Recording Studies to check out our facilities. In the true spirit of springtime, the past weeks have been an exciting period of growth--with new people and workflows in every arena. Even inside the walls, with freshly laid lines, intertwining with the roots of Grieghallen's historic studios. Spaces and structures are taking shape. The dust is beginning to clear (and get vacuumed) just in time for Festspillene!

I dag vil vi skryte av elektrikeren Stian fra LOS Elektro ⚡
Stian har vært en kjemperessurs på infrastrukturs- installering og veiledning!

Neste uke skal vi oppdatere infrastrukturen mellom K16 og Talestudio, og Stian skal terminere de nye patchboksene mellom studioene.

Vi er stolt over å designe og installere en ny infrastruktur baserte på en blanding av det gode og gamle analoge, og det nye, og veldig viktige, nettverkskabler--fiber og CAT.

Vi bygger inn i fremtiden vi 🫡 med stor respekt og ansvar til å bevare det gode og gamle analogt fra før. Det som ble lagt av NRK er fortsatt i daglig bruk, og blir fortsatt verdsatt 🖤

Takk til Stian og bygningsansvarlige i Grieghallen for samarbeidet på et så historiske prosjektet med studio oppgraderinger, i Bergens fineste stuen ♥️

If, however, you have not heard this album yet... Hit the link in the comments 📀 It was such an honor, and too much fun recording Sverre Sæbø Quintet's recently released album, "If, however, you have not lost your self control".

We recorded last summer in Klokkeklang and Småtroll, with the separation wall driven down between them (heavy accordion-style wall seen in photos). Control room for this session was Talestudio.

From spacious rooms with tall ceilings, to dry and isolated tracking rooms, to luscious stairwells.... to the one and only Griegsalen!--we have every flavor and combination of acoustical space at the ready for uniquely customizable sessions this summer in Grieghallen.
