On "From Silence to Somewhere" Wobbler cooks an enigmatic, multi flavoured and adventurous brew in the olde black cauldron. Poignant and edgy guitar riffs, melancholic and harmonious verses, powerful crescendos, energetic spinet driven passages and the odd touch of flamenco and italian recitals. Four epic songs, clocking in at 47 minutes.

"Dwellers of the Deep" consists of four distinctive pieces and is a broad looking glass into Wobbler's creative whims and playful exuberance. The album showcases the band's mastery of dynamics and flow, with passages and themes veering from the scenic and serene to the downright rocking. On the final track, Wobbler is in full blast, with a 19 minutes suite taking the listener through aspects of the darker sides of Wobbler´s sound.

“Ritual” is one of the iconic Scandi-prog releases from the 90s, repressed on CD several times. But now, 30 years after its initial release, it can be heard on vinyl for the first time - carefully re-mastered by Hans Fredriksson.

The Swedish band Ritual entered the prog scene like a typhoon with their 1995 debut album. The Scandinavian scene was already strong with bands like Änglagård, Anekdoten, White Willow and Landberk, but Ritual came with a different approach. They are both highly accessible and melodic, and also very technical and symphonic. Tove Jansson’s Moomin universe inspired several songs on the album, but the music leans more toward folk, symphonic rock, and 70s-style prog, resulting in a richly imaginative sound. Drawing on Jansson's work, the lyrics explore imagination, nature, and the fantastical. Ritual’s songwriting focuses on storytelling and emotional depth, creating an immersive experience.

"Ritual" is now available to pre-order, and will be out on Karisma Records January 9, 2026.

Fimbulvinter reflects Bjørn’s diverse influences, blending the atmospheric and introspective tones of progressive rock with the energy and swagger of the hard rock bands he grew up with in the early ’80s. Fans of Kiss, Black Sabbath, and classic progressive acts will find much to love in the album’s rich soundscapes. From the driving, anthemic energy of “Gone” - a track made for blasting on the open road - to moments of introspection and monumental heaviness, Fimbulvinter is a dynamic journey through darkness and light.

Lars Fredrik Frøislie- Gamle Mester LP
Lars Fredrik Frøislie pays homage to the greats of the past. Drawing inspiration not only from the pioneers of progressive rock but also from art, literature, and mythology, the album reflects on timeless acts of creativity that still resonate today. The title is derived from the ancient oak tree "Den Gamle Mester," found at Krødsherad Prestegård, which also inspired a poem of the same name by Jørgen Moe. This symbolic tree serves as a unifying theme throughout the album, representing wisdom, endurance, and the passage of time.

Agusa - Högtid (Remaster) LP
Originally released in 2014, Högtid quickly became a favourite among fans of vintage progressive
rock. The album is a masterful collection of extended instrumentals, weaving together folky
melodies, psychedelic jams, and otherworldly Krautrock explorations.

True Norwegian Hard Rock trio Draken joins Dark Essence Records!

Formed in 2019 by Even Hermansen (guitar/vocals, Bushman's Revenge, Red Kite), Hallvard Gaardløs (bass/vocals, WIZRD, Spidergawd) and André Drage (drums, André Drage), Draken has carved out a fierce sonic identity at the crossroads of heavy rock and metal. Drawing inspiration from bands like High on Fire, Motörhead and Entombed, their sound is defined by down-tuned guitars, massive riffs and raw energy.

To celebrate this news and the festive season we’re at, the track Jólablót from the new album is released today. Link in comments.

The band has this to say about Jólablót:

"We woke up screaming one night, as we realized that we hadn’t yet written a true Norwegian disco metal banger about how much we fu***ng hate Christmas! I mean we hate all aspects of Christmas, the religious, the modern commercialisation of – imagine our shame! So, this is our humble attempt to rectify the situation once and for all. Think the evilest parts of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and Haddaway, with hints of Gojira, and maybe a little sprinkle of Refused.

We were originally going to call this epic party anthem Antichrist Mass but settled for the much more sensible Viking name Jólablót, after all the kids in our neighbourhood started threatening us with violence. Just as well, since we really do like drinking and eating around the time of the winter solstice. So happy jólablót to you too! Enjoy!"
