Test fitting the various buildings on the industrial area to see if we can incorporate a Viessmann car track crossing the railway tracks. Looks promising! 😀 Thierry tested the new cleaning car on the cleaning train, while I started ballasting the small pieces of track that will not have asphalt in the middle. Disaster!! 😱 I managed to once again get glue creeping via capillary action onto the switch blade mechanism. Will most likely need to replace one switch. 😕 Any advice on ballasting switches would be greatly appreciated!!

Thierry is testing a Viessmann truck, while I continue with the second layer of plastic for the industrial tracks. We also had a visit from Knut Pedersen - he brought a track cleaner car Thierry bought earlier, and we discussed a lot of different building techniques with him ! 😀

I cut all the lower pieces of plastic and glued them in place between the industrial rail pieces, after having removed the old trial mid runners. Thierry installed the last pieces of the second exit line from the lower shadow station and got all the electronics and programming running smoothly. After some initial small collisions, even the trains ran like they should! 😅

We had some visitors! 😀 I found out how to build up the middle part of the tracks to the correct height using two pieces of 1mm styrene plastic, while Thierry starts adding the second track to the exit from the lower shadow station. We also tested thick sheets of aliminium for the center conducting part of the industrial tracks. The principle worked well, and looked quite close in colour to the “asphalt”. We just need to get the difficult soldering to work! 😀

I found a way of marking the cardboard in preparation for the cutting; I rubbed a piece of artist pastel chalk on the rails, put the cardboard in it’s exact place and rubbed my finger along the rails on top of the cardboard. It resulted in just enough markings on the underside of the cardboard to be able to cut along it. Very happy with the result! 😀 Thierry is planning an extension to the lower shadow station.

The final layer is in place, but not finished - it needs a lot of precision cutting before we can glue everything together. We are also still trying to figure out the best way of making the piece between the rails. Weinert has a solution, but it is very expensive. Thierry is painting some 3D-prints for a project of mine. 😀

The final layer of Depron is almost ready - just the fiddly bit left; I will need to make incisions for the sleepers along every length of track to make the Depron flush with the top of the rails. 😅 Thierry is building more catenary masts - we will need around 20 of those, so he will be busy for a while! 😀

Thierry builds a brass model of a Norwegian catenary mast - from a nice kit I bought many years ago. I continue with the industrial area - the next level of depron is shaped. Before installing, I need to make sure the tracks are perfectly straight and aligned, as I will use them for guide for cutting the depron correctly. 😀
