The mistakes that make your makeup look cakey 👇🏽.
Most of the time, it’s not the foundation. It’s the base and the technique💯.
1️⃣ Applying too much product at once.
If you start with too much foundation, you’ve already set the wrong base. Heavy layers are harder to blend, harder to control, and even harder to build on. Makeup is meant to be layered thin, controlled layers always melt better into the skin.
2️⃣ Skipping proper skin prep.
No foundation blends well on unprepped skin.
If your skin isn’t exfoliated & hydrated, you’re blending over texture and dry patches. That’s when product sits on the surface instead of melting in.
Skincare is not optional it’s the foundation before the foundation.💯
3️⃣ Using the wrong formula for your skin type.
Dry skin + matte formulas = cakey texture.
Oily skin + overly oil based formulas = breakdown and separation.
4️⃣ Rushing the blending process.
Blending is Everythiing💯.f you’re in a rush, avoid heavy creams and full coverage bases. On busy days, I skip foundation and use light concealer, blush, and strategic placement instead. Simpler routines blend better under time pressure.
Good makeup doesn’t look heavy.
It looks intentional.
