Sources in Kabul say several powerful explosions and sustained gunfire were heard in the city early Tuesday, following reported patrols by Pakistani fighter jets.

The blasts were heard at around 04:45 local time, with light and heavy gunfire continuing for more than an hour.

The exact locations and possible targets remain unclear. Authorities in Pakistan have not yet commented.
