Bhimber Dam Hydropower Project

The Bhimber Dam Project is a planned small-scale hydropower initiative in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, located on Bhimber Nullah. With an installed capacity of 2 MW, the project aims to provide clean, renewable electricity while supporting local development and energy security. The project is targeted for completion during 2024–2025, following detailed technical studies and phased implementation.

AGES Consultants has officially signed the Consultancy Contract for the Bhimber Dam Project with the Irrigation and Small Dams Department, Government of AJK, on 17 December 2025. This marks an important milestone, moving the project closer to ex*****on.

Small hydropower projects like Bhimber Dam play a vital role in sustainable energy generation, local employment, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

وادی کاغان میں سکی کناری ہائیڈرو پاور پراجیکٹ کی سالانہ دیکھ بھال کے سلسلے میں 20 دسمبر سے 20 جنوری کے درمیان اسپل وے گیٹس کھولے جائیں گے جس سے دریائے کنہار کے پانی کے اخراج میں اضافہ ہوگا ۔ لہذا عوام الناس سے سختی سے ہدایت کی جاتی ہے کہ وہ دریائے کنہار کے کنارے ان تاریخوں میں جانے سے گریز کریں آور اپنے مال مویشی بھی دور رکھیں۔

Diamer Basha Dam – 4500MW
Construction work continues day and night across all major sites, including the Dam Pit, Left Abutment, and Power Intake Infrastructure.
With a gross water storage capacity of 8.1 MAF and a power generation capacity of 4500 MW, this mega project will play a vital role in securing Pakistan’s water and energy future also set to become the tallest RCC dam in the world at 272 meters.

The River Diversion Ceremony of the Balakot Hydropower Project (300 MW) was held on October 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the project's development. The ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the Secretary of Energy and Power Department, officials from the Planning and Development Department, the Chief Executive Officer of P**O, and representatives from the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the Contractor.

The Balakot Hydropower Project is a flagship initiative of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to harness the potential of the Kunhar River in Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This 300 MW run-of-river hydropower scheme is designed to generate approximately 1,143 GWh of clean energy annually, contributing to Pakistan's growing energy demand and promoting sustainable power generation.

The project involves the construction of a dam, a 9.1 km headrace tunnel, and a cavern powerhouse located upstream of Balakot town. Jointly financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the project carries an estimated cost of PKR 95 billion and is targeted for commissioning by December 2027.

On August 13, 2025, excavation work officially began on the diversion tunnel chamber — a key step that marks the project’s entry into a critical stage.

The diversion tunnel will act as a temporary drainage channel during dam construction, and the successful excavation of its chamber is vital for ensuring the safety of the diversion system while laying a strong foundation for upcoming works.

This achievement is yet another testament to the commitment and ex*****on ability of our construction team. With steady progress, we remain dedicated to accelerating construction and moving closer to early commissioning and power generation for Pakistan 🇵🇰.
