Jansen Records Say Ja. to great music! Jansen Records is a Norwegian record label based in Oslo. Check out our sist to great Music! But hey, we’re sticking to it.

Ja. – That is both our logo, and the Norwegian word for «Yes». In the beginning we thought it was quite clever, but over the years we’ve seen more people scratching their heads looking at this slogan, than actually nodding in quiet affirmation. Say yes to great music. Jansen Records is a record label and publisher that was started by Erik Jansen in 2009, and today it is run by him and his friends

and colleagues, Helene, Miriam, Andreas and Eivind. With a common background from working in different record stores in Oslo, and collecting all sorts of records, our musical bond is quite strong. Which we think the roster at Jansen shows. The mix of genres run from psychedelic rock, via indie pop to americana and country. We even hang with the metal crowd once in a while. The selection might seem quite eclectic looking at it from the outside, and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. But wait, there’s more. Tightly connected to the Jansen organization, is our friends and sub labels Die With Your Boots On Records (fuzzy folk and Nordic americana), Black Pop Records (garage rock and punk rock on 7-inches) and we do PR/Marketing/Radio with friends from Tambourhinoceros in Denmark and Skiva Promotion in Sweden under the umbrella, Nordic Waves (https://nordicwaves.net/)

Gjennom 2025 har vi jobbet og styrt på i det stille med et nytt prosjekt som vi nå er utrolig stolte av å presentere.

Nå lanserer vi for alvor label-samarbeidet Ja. Group. Med oss har vi labels som Sheep Chase Records (Kristi Brud, Krissy Mary, Reolô), Mother Likes It Records (Sweetheart, Lady Friend, Label), BigBoy (Bendik, Sofi O) og artister som Evig Ferie, Tora Daa, Resa Saffa Park og mange flere. Ja. Group ser også internasjonalt, og har avtale med svenske Fredrik Wallin i Funny Weather, kjent fra Little Dragon.

Vi har lenge sett en tendens til at flere og flere artister vil drive sine egne labels og i større grad ønsker å ha full kontroll på sin egen musikk. På den annen side, ser man også en tendens til konsolidering i bransjen, der oppkjøp eller fusjonering er blitt vanligere. Det siste kan være vel og bra for noen, men med Ja. Group er det et tydelig ønske om at artister og labels – uansett størrelse – skal klare å drifte sine selskap og karrierer, og ivareta voksende kataloger uten å nødvendigvis måtte selge.

Throughout 2025, we’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on a new project that we’re now incredibly proud to present.

We are now officially launching the label society Ja. Group. Along with us are labels such as Sheep Chase Records (Kristi Brud, Krissy Mary, Reolô), Mother Likes It Records (Sweetheart, Lady Friend, Label), BigBoy (Bendik, Sofi O), as well as artists like Evig Ferie, Tora Daa, Resa Saffa Park, and many more. Ja. Group also has an international outlook, with an agreement in place with Sweden’s Fredrik Wallin of Funny Weather, known from Little Dragon.

For a long time, we’ve seen a growing trend of more and more artists wanting to run their own labels and take greater control of their own music. At the same time, there’s also a trend toward consolidation in the industry, where acquisitions or mergers have become more common. This can be beneficial for some, but with Ja. Group there is a clear ambition that artists and labels—regardless of size—should be able to operate their companies and careers, and manage growing catalogs, without necessarily having to sell.
