From overlooked underdogs to celebrated classics!
🚗⛽AmCham Norway was thrilled to visit EAC - Bilhistorisk Senter Eight Amcars Club and their one-of-a-kind Bilhistorisk Senter just outside Lillestrøm - a true celebration of American automotive heritage.
Founded in 1977, the club is dedicated to preserving and restoring eight nearly extinct US car brands that lost the post-WWII race to the big three (GM, Ford, and Chrysler): Studebaker, Packard, Hudson, DeSoto, Nash, Willys, Kaiser, and Henry J. 🧰🔧
What began as a bold vision among a group of passionate collectors, has now become one of Norway’s most unique car museums - the result of nearly 50 years of dedication, creativity, and grit. You won't find a comparable exhibition anywhere in the world, not even in the USA.
The center features two floors, showcasing a collection of over 120 cars – each with a unique history – with owners ranging from heads of state, famous business leaders, and passengers including kings, prime ministers, politicians, and world-renowned musicians. The American Diner serves delicious staples such as milkshakes, burgers, and apple pie. The center also has its own garage where their youth club gets hands on restoration experience and two conference rooms available for 12 and 24 people. 🍔🥤
Thank you to Jack Tveter and Toralf Wiik Østli at EAC for hosting us and for their ongoing commitment to keeping this important piece of transatlantic history alive!
