Keep seeing 2110 everywhere? 👀

Today’s date, 21st October, shares the same numbers as the legendary SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast standard. 📅

So today we’re recognizing 2110 Day to highlight the role that Nevion and Sony have played in shaping the standard, defining the transportation of separate video, audio and data streams over IP networks.

We were even involved in some of the very first SMPTE 2110-based LAN and WAN deployments!

Martin Walbum was involved in the delivery of the early IP network systems of the 1990s.

Since then, he’s seen IP evolve to be integrated in mobile networks, home internet and now the broadcast industry.

Now, Martin heads up our global Solutions Architects team at Nevion, helping the sales team design complex IP-based solutions for both broadcasters and telecoms operators.

Nevion and Sony share an ongoing commitment to sustainable practices. 🌳

For example, our VideoIPath, Virtuoso and eMerge solutions are designed to achieve energy efficiency, with intelligent start/stop functionalities to save power.

And that same passion for sustainable initiatives was clearly present on the Sony - Professional Europe stand at .

Every aspect of the stand’s design was devised with minimal carbon impact in mind.

This included 100% recycled plastic sheet material and upcycled graphic textiles.
Even the big Sony logo is reusable!

The room was packed for Sony’s partner event at !

We had the privilege of experts from Orange Polska: Pawel Kania, Michał Soliński and Michał Górski up on stage with the Sony team for a special Creativity Connected presentation.

They talked about the benefits of private 5G networks and the role they are already playing in live production, alongside the transformative shift towards software-defined broadcasts.

Some of the transformational projects mentioned included major cultural events in Poland. One was the use of 5G in a concert marking the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry, and the delivery of live video from Navy vessels as part of the Polish Army Day maritime parade.

The relationship between Nevion and Telenor goes from strength to strength 🏋️

It was great to be on stage with the Telenor team at , where we spoke about building a ground-breaking remote sport production ecosystem for Norway’s TV 2.

In the 2025 football season, 900 matches were delivered via remote production.

And in 2026, our partnership will drive an upgrade for SEF Svensk Elitfotboll, enabling centralized production of live football across 32 stadiums and two leagues.
