Gratulerer med kvinnedagen 👊🏼🫶🏼 I have always cared deeply about the topic of gender inequality. Feminism by definition is the radical belief that we all deserve the same social, economic and political equality. Knowing well that where I grew up, the color of my skin as well as when I happened to be born has given me privilege. There are still places in the world where I would be refused the access to basic education, have barriers to vote or to own my own assets because I’m female.
Did you know that:
- 1 in 4 women in Norway have experienced violence or threats in their household
- 1 in 5 women in Norway have been r***d. Half of them before they turned 18
- Every year 12 million girls are married off against their will. That’s one girl every 3rd second.
- 130 million girls are denied basic education on the basis of gender
- 72% of all human trafficking victims are girls, 75% of them are r***d and sexually abused
Many believe, that the economic inequality of the past is a question of the past. But let’s talk economic inequality, beyond the pay gap (which is still very real) Despite us coming along way, there are still inequalities here in Norway:
Did you know that:
- Women spend on average 1 hour more on household chores than their partners daily and are still main caregivers in their family
- Only 6,6% of CEO’s in Norway are female
- Only 13% of board of directors are female
- 70% of what’s invested in the stock marked is owned by men
- Last year 80% of stock dividend was given to men
- Women typically do not own the family home, or own a smaller portion than their partner
Let’s close the gap in invested capital by investing in the stock market, building wealth, owning our homes and saving for our pensions. Whatever you may dream of, let’s do the damn thing 👏🏻 Happy international women’s day to all the fantastic women out there👊🏼
