Snowmobiling in The Lyngen Alps was a vibe!
•basecamp took us to the start for some lunch before a practice session on the snow mobile we were entrusted with.

What started as a nervous start and doing my best driving Miss Daisy routine, I was soon channelling my inner Dominic Toretto putting my foot down on the gas & also being bigged up for how quickly I learnt & picked it up.

Views - as it has been the majority of their trip - were insane!

Summed up in the video as "this is f**king cool", may have to do it again sometime 😁

2 NIGHTS ON THE SPIN!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 so nice they blessed me twice!

Look after night 1 I was GAAAASSSSSED after seeing them and experiencing it...this one on night 2 felt sweeter, as I was originally meant to do this Aurora Chase Tour on night 1 but it was cancelled due to insufficient numbers 😭😭😭😭

were accommodating enough to message me & offer 2 dates, one which was the Tuesday and so off we went!

This was originally my only shot at seeing them so I just pretended in the group I didn't see them 24hours prior 😅😅😅😅

The lovely Clara (our guide) told us to look for a "weird cloud" which could be a sign. Someone must've looked out the window, and said "is that weird enough?" to a patch which turned out to be the aurora....and this was within 30 mins of driving!

Night 1's show was mental, but this by comparison....F**K. ME! It was dancing; there were streaks of purple arriving; exploding in front of our eyes; and it didn't die down for a good couple hours. This was unreal and left me gobsmacked!

We went further into the wilderness and set up by a body of water and a fjord, setting up a fire & tucking into reindeer stew watching the aurora giving us an encore performance over the mountains & water.

People told me not to expect them and I went into this Tromso trip open minded just for a good break & experience a new country. Most people book tours galore without a sign. I got 2 amazing light showings B2B and I am counting myself as being EXTREMELY lucky!

We are at the end of February and already this is moment of the YEAR! This is gonna take some beating 🌌

Btw big up Clara for the pictures from her fancy camera (the pictures I took on my phone I'll save for a rainy day 😉); the camp fire/food & a great night keeping us informed 👏👏👏👏👏

Quick shuttle bus from the centre took us to the cable car which takes 5 mins to get to the top.

Absolutely insane views of Tromso & the surrounding Fjords too! 😍

Protection from the elements in the form of the cafe where I got stuck into a Norwegian waffle with jam & caramelised goat cheese 🤤

Freezing but defo one to check out if you're visiting 👌

Starting day 2 with a dip in the Nordic Sea.

After breakfast, I went out to go to .lifestyle for a sauna and dip in the water...I've done cold tanks/plunges before so it won't be that bad would it?

Let me tell you...minus 4 wind/weather was one thing in swimwear, but that first step in the 2.6°c water was not the one! After climbing in slowly & breathing like I was giving birth, I lowered in & dunk my head. Pretty sure I came up speaking in tongues it was that cold 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It was refreshing but took some time. Headed back to the sauna to get some feelings back in my extremities...only then to spend 20mins in it; say f**k it; and go for a 2nd round in the water!

You get an hour slot so can do as often or as little as you want.

At least if you catch your death from hyperthermia, you've got a nice view to enjoy before you freeze to death 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐓!

To cap off the first day with a very unexpected light show was the cherry on top! Originally I was booked for a light chasing tour but it got moved to Tuesday...someone up there was looking out for your boy!

When we turned up to Roy pointed out the lights...to the naked eye it looks like a weird cloud. God bless night mode cos seeing the picture and the phone working it's magic to produce the start of it was immense.

As the night progressed it got SO. MUCH. BETTER! Literally one of the group was outside after food & as the rest of us were eating, he burst through the door and just said "STOP EATING AND COME CHECK THIS OUT NOW!"

Seeing the lights dancing & moving with the little flickers of difference colour...it was the most surreal moment I've ever experienced, as demonstrated by my use of the word RAHTID on a continual basis 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What a way to cap off the first day...and I still had a northern lights tour on day 2.

Surely I couldn't catch them 2 nights on the spin...could I? 👀

Day 1 of Tromso...

Touched base in the city and went for a snack at the world famous hot dog stand to sample a reindeer & beef hot dog...it was pretty decent.

From there headed for some fried cod tongues (yup you read that right) with some fries...tasted like scampi but could've done with more tbh

Once getting to the accommodation & dropping bags off, it was a quick chill before heading off to the husky centre where we learnt about the dogs; got to pet some of them (the urge to keep saying "Can I pet that dawg?" was strong but i abstained 🤣) & finished off with a meal that included fruit tea; fish soup; and cake before finishing the night around a fire toasting marshmallows....

HOWEVER! The night did take a turn & it was disrupted somewhat during the dog meet as well as the dinner too........which will be revealed in the next post

Hallo, og velkommen til Tromsø!

This is the epitome of the phrase Winter Wonderland with the landscapes and snow everywhere.

A few questions to clear up:

1) yes it is cold as balls!

2) yes it is expensive!!

3) yes it is worth it!

Plenty to check out but the fun is in the excursions that take place out of the city 👀

Bring on the adventure!

Good day you handsome people! 👋

It's been a hot minute on this page, but fret not cos a new year means new adventures!

A long ball ache journey from Wolves to Gatwick this morning with broken sleep which may bite me in the backside later on with my plans 😬

With that being said, time to walk down the aisle once more and tick off country number 29 as Flash Flies Far to Tromso, Norway!

A Krakow photo/video dump.

Booked on a Tuesday, flew out on a Wednesday from Manchester, and back in time for the weekend in England.

Ate all the food, drank all the drinks, and walked A LOT!

Undoubtedly one of the best cities with plenty of stuff to do.

Already counting down until the next visit 😍

17/10/2025

Krakow 3 nights
Accommodation £120
Flight from Manchester and returning to Birmingham £72
Train from Wolves to Birmingham; and coach from Birmingham to Manchester Airport; and train from Birmingham airport to Wolves: £20
Uber from airport to accommodation and back £15
eSim £12
Total before excursions; food & drink: £240

Edinburgh 3 Nights
Accommodation £189
Train return ticket £60 - £90
Tram ticket return £7
Total before excursions; food & drink: £256 - £286

Before the impromptu travel to Krakow, my heart was set on Edinburgh as I have unfinished business with a certain bungee jump.

I was ready to lay out for the original room (no name of the establishment) but when booking it, it came up saying there's been an error...and it went up from £140 to £189 for 3 nights!

Throw in the train travel prices too and I thought, "I shouldn't have left it too late"....but then I said "surely I can get more value for my money elsewhere at short notice right?"

After research I found cheap 1 way flights to Poland and also accommodation...the return leg of the journey could wait until I was on my way & which i eventually sorted 👌

EVERYONE'S TASTES AND PREFERENCES FOR WHERE THEY STAY WILL DIFFER....THESE PRICES ARE BASED ON WHAT I WAS AIMING FOR ON A BUDGET.

Working out prices you may think its not much of a difference...BUT looking at the Krakow break down, you get more for the same price as Edinburgh travel & accommodation alone 😬

Plus, the extra £16 - £46 saved gets you further in Krakow for food & drinks too. Everyone is different in their circumstances when it comes to eating/drinking/things to do, and can make their trip to either place as inexpensive or as expensive as they see fit...but you can see a clear difference. Again, these prices do vary especially on where you are travelling to each destination from.

As long as you research and get in early, a last minute trip abroad actually works out better to somewhere domestically in Great Britain.

If the opportunity is there, get yourself a flight & go see the world 🌎 #🇵🇱
