A little update from Punks in Pubs HQ…

I’m going to be taking a hiatus from the podcast, as my son has decided to make his debut appearance in the world.

He came into the world to Tim Armstr'songs Hold On, which feels like a pretty perfect first song. A gentle reminder to him, and probably to me, that we’ve got this.

He is only a few days old and already I’ve taken him to vote, so I’ve started the political indoctrination far too early.

Thank you to everyone who listens, shares, messages, and supports the podcast.

I’ll be back once I’ve worked out how to record an episode on two hours’ sleep and with sick on my shoulder.

Until then stay kind, and please send coffee.

New episode of Punks in Pubs.

This one felt very timely for me.

I’m joined by Keith Negley, author of My Dad Used to Be So Cool, a book I came across as I get ready to become a dad for the first time.

We talk about the book, what sat behind it emotionally, and that fear a lot of people probably have when life changes, and you wonder what happens to the person you used to be.

Keith grew up in the American Midwest, fell in love with Midwest emo, played dive bars and house shows, and was in the band Sleepy Eyes of Death.

A really honest chat about music, creativity, identity and fatherhood.

New episode.

I sat down with Vinnie Fiorello to talk about thepunkrockmuseum in Las Vegas as it celebrates its third anniversary.

We talk about how the museum came together, why punk should be documented rather than defined, how the guest tour guides came to be, whether the museum should reflect the darker side of punk, and why the story of punk is far from finished.

A really fun chat, and one I think a lot of people will connect with.

New episode and it's the Christmas one.

We sit down with Obi Fernandez of Westbound Train to talk about family traditions, favourite holiday records, Berklee, Eric Andre Hellcat Records years, stepping back after 2009, faith and community—and because we recorded this on release day, plenty about the new album Sing the Ghosts Away.
