rePEACE re:PEACE magazine was started by a group of students. The idea is to share insights regarding peace

The magazine re:PEACE was founded in 2015 by a group of graduate students at the Centre for Peace Studies at the University of Tromsø, Norway. The idea was to share some concepts and ideas studied in the Master of Peace and Conflict Transformation. By now the magazine has expanded to include both academic and non-academic contributors. The magazine gathers a collection of articles, pictures, poems

and other interesting pieces that are related to academic topics as well as social and political issues. re:PEACE is a non-profit magazine, run entirely by volunteers. None of the contributors are paid, nor are the executive staff. Funding for this project is based on student initiative money and covers only the costs of printing and publishing.

There is a phrase that used to be said to girls or women: "Calladita te ves más bonita" ("You look prettier when you're quiet"). This saying is often addressed and challenged thorugh the signs used in feminist demonstrations. They might read "Calladita no me veo más bonita" ("I don't look prettier when I'm quiet") or simply "Calladita no me veo" ("I remain unseen when I'm quiet").
This picture was taken in last year's demonstration for International Women's Day in Mexico City.

In Italy, mimosa flowers are the icon of Women’s Day. This plant became a symbol of the International Women’s Day on March 8, 1946 when Teresa Mattei, Teresa Noce and Rita Montagnana, members of the Italian Women’s Union (UDI), were looking for a flower to celebrate the first Women’s Day after the end of World War II. They chose the mimosa because it was one of the first flowers to bloom in early March and had the advantage of growing spontaneously in the fields. This yellow and soft flower celebrates and symbolizes the achievements of women, who first had the right to vote on March 10, 1946.
Special thanks to for sharing!
