😊 Did you know that Norway has some of the lower speed limits compared to many other European countries and North America? Surprisingly not, it’s also the 2nd safest country in the world to drive in, right after the Netherlands! 🚗✨🫶

One reason is those strict speed limits, which are enforced pretty seriously. If you happen to speed, you could face some hefty fines (like €1300 if you're caught going over 80 km/h in a 60 km/h zone). Steike! (Norwegian for Yikes!) 💸💸 Your vacation in Norway is bound to be an adventure, and you wouldn't want a speeding ticket to mess with your budget. So take it easy on those roads!

And did I mention the free-ranging cattle? You'll find sheep sleeping on (yes on, not by) the roads in many places, and they could care less about you and your car 🐑😴 Charming creatures!

👮 You’ll also find that radar speed traps and police checks are pretty standard. Just a heads up!

🚗 Here are some general speed limits to keep in mind: 50 km/h in urban areas, 80 km/h on rural roads (though it may be challenging to hit that speed in many places), and between 90-110 km/h on motorways where they exist.

Drive safe, and have an amazing trip! 🌟

After 20 years of helping visitors navigate these roads, I’ve learned one thing: The GPS can't be trusted, the the final boss is a sheep, and you WILL become a "waterfall snob" by day 3.

Tell me: Which one are you?

1️⃣ "Stop the car for every single stream of water!" 📸
2️⃣ "If it’s not 300ft tall, I’m not looking up." 😴

I’ve spent decades working with US travelers heading to Norway, and if I had a Krone for every time I saw an American tourist realize they’re 4 hours away from a grocery store on a Sunday... well, I’d be retired on a private island in the Lofoten by now! 🇳🇴😂

Norway is breathtaking, but it’s basically the "final boss" of road trips. Between the roads that are narrower than a NYC hallway and the fact that "just down the road" actually involves two ferries and a mountain pass, there’s a bit of a learning curve. 🏔️🚗

I’ve put together this "Cheat Sheet" for my US friends so you can skip the stress and get straight to the "wow" moments.
Slide through to avoid the culture shocks!

Want to see a Viking lose their cool? 🤬🇳🇴
Most people think Norwegians are "chill." And we are - until you start treating our backyard like a theme park. 🎢

Norway has the world’s best "Right to Roam" (Allemannsretten), but here’s the thing: it’s built on a foundation of mutual respect, not a "do whatever I want" pass. If you think you can park your van on a farmer's crop or pitch a tent in someone’s front yard just because it's "nature," you’re about to meet a very different side of the locals. ⚔️

Swipe through for the "Ethical adventurer" audit. If you’re checking these boxes, you’re a legend. If not? You’re definitely poking the Vikings.

Inside, we’re talking:
🏠 The 150-meter rule (don't be a creeper).
🚜 Innmark vs. Utmark (don't kill the hay).
🌱 The tundra trap (don't drive on the moss).
💩 The "No trace" reality (carry it out, period).

Norway in 2026 is busier than ever, and the locals are getting protective. Don't be the reason we lose our "Right to Roam."

So, you’ve arrived in Norway and asked a local for a "chill Sunday stroll" recommendation? 🌿

Bless your heart 😘

Before you lace up your boots, you need to understand the Norwegian Relativity Scale.

Here is a quick translation guide to help you survive the "friluftsliv" lifestyle without calling a rescue helicopter:

😖 Not far = Very far
😖 Not steep = Very steep
😖 Easy terrain = Rocky terrain
😖 Flat terrain = Not flat at all
😖 2 hours hike = 4 hours hike

Don't plan your Norway trip based on outdated 2018 Pinterest boards 🙄

Norway is evolving quickly! With the Krone’s value fluctuating and new environmental rules coming in 2026, what was affordable three years ago could be quite costly now—maybe even tricky with fines. I'm here to help you navigate this new reality.

✔️ Now save this for later and tag your travel buddy.

🇳🇴 We’ve all heard the stereotypes: "It’s too expensive," "The people are cold," or "Just hop on a cruise." 🙄 But if you swipe through, you'll see most of that is just not true.

From revealing the real story behind the "Right to Roam" to the best ways to enjoy a Fjord without fighting through crowds of thousands, I’ll share seven myths you should forget before booking your flight. ✈️

And here’s a surprise: that fabulous week in the Sunnmøre Alps isn’t just for tech moguls anymore. Prices have shifted, and the secret spots are inching further north 😊

Which of these myths did you actually believe? Or do you have a unique Norwegian opinion to share? Let’s chat (respectfully) in the comments! 👇
