🚨🌧️ PRITHVI HIGHWAY TO REMAIN CLOSED TONIGHT

The District Administration Office, Dhading has announced the closure of the Prithvi Highway from 8:00 PM on Thursday, Asoj 8, until 5:00 AM on Friday, Asoj 9, due to continuous rainfall and the risk of floods and landslides.

The Mugling–Narayangadh road section will also remain closed during the same period. Authorities have urged travelers to avoid unnecessary travel and stay alert during heavy rainfall.

💵🇳🇵 NEW RS 1,000 BANKNOTES FROM FRIDAY!

Nepal Rastra Bank is set to start circulating new Rs 1,000 banknotes from Friday. The notes will keep the same size as existing ones but feature a new light green design with a purple border.

The 2025-series notes feature Mount Everest, rhododendron and “1000” watermarks, along with twin elephants Ram and Laxman from Chitwan’s government elephant breeding centre.

The new notes will circulate alongside existing Rs 1,000 notes.

Newly appointed NEA Executive Director Dirghayukumar Shrestha has said Nepal will not face electricity supply problems this winter despite major flood damage to hydropower projects.

Restoring damaged hydropower and transmission infrastructure in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli corridors will be a top priority, while NEA and the Energy Ministry are working on alternative measures to ensure a smooth power supply.

Between 2018 and May 2024, 2,214 Nepali migrant workers died in Malaysia, with su***de and chronic illnesses among the reported leading causes, according to Malaysia’s Human Rights Commission (Suhakam).

With around 400,000 Nepalis currently working in Malaysia, rights groups have renewed efforts to investigate abuses and improve labour protections. Complaints include withheld passports, long working hours and unpaid wages.
