ennessee has officially declared June 2026 as Nuclear Family Month instead of Pride Month.
Governor Bill Lee signed a resolution recognizing the nuclear family—defined as a husband, wife, and their biological, adopted, or foster children—as a foundation of society. The measure passed with strong support in both the Tennessee House and Senate before being signed into law.
The resolution is symbolic and does not change any marriage, family, or custody laws.
Meanwhile, Indiana Governor Mike Braun has also proclaimed June as Nuclear Family Month in his state.
Because June is nationally recognized as Pride Month, Tennessee's decision has sparked debate across the country. Supporters see it as a celebration of traditional family values, while critics view it as a political statement.
No matter where people stand, Tennessee has made its position clear—and the conversation is far from over.
