Unlike Congress or RSP leaders, Maoist leaders are often criticized on social media if they display any sort of lifestyle that seems like rich or bourgeois. Why? Because for a long time they claimed to hate capitalism and capitalist lifestyle; they claimed to represent poor and peasant. And when the people see what they claim to despise, they see the hypocrisy and thus the criticism.
They for all their life hide out to enjoy the lifestyle secretly. Unlike others, they can’t post on social media anything that seems rich and bourgeois. They can’t wear western brands. They can’t publicly announce that their children going for abroad study in a capitalist country. They cannot do anything that doesn’t align with what they claim to represent. They can’t drink expensive whisky; they can stay in luxury hotels.
Sadly, it doesn’t stop in them. It hunts even their children and grand children.
That’s the cost you pay for faking about what you believe in; contradicting with your preaching and practice. Humans universally have problems with hypocrisy. Nepalese are no different.
So, be you, be honest about what you believe in, and people don’t have a problem with whatever way you live your life as long as it’s aligning with your beliefs.
