Today at the office, one of our senior dai, a talented filmmaker, showed us a short movie.
Before starting it, he told us, “This is a soulless and unrequited love kind of story.”
The movie was about a boy who kept looking at ordinary things happening around him. People, vehicles, animals, little moments from everyday life. But somehow, his mind turned all of them into a beautiful imaginary world.
He would imagine, “What if this was mine? What if I belonged here? What if she was with me?”
And he would quietly enjoy a life that existed only inside his head.
We laughed at him.
Then the movie ended.
Around 7:30 PM, I was walking alone through Krishna Galli near Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur, on my way to the National Human Rights Office.
And suddenly, I noticed something.
I was doing exactly what that boy in the movie was doing.
Looking at random people, places, little moments around me, and creating imaginary stories in my head.
I caught myself smiling.
Then I laughed at myself.
“Damn… how introverted can a person become?”
Maybe I’ve compressed too many feelings inside myself. Maybe I’ve become too good at imagining the things I cannot have. Maybe I’m a little foolish for finding happiness in stories that exist only in my head.
The funniest part?
A few hours ago, we were laughing at that boy.
Now I’m walking alone through the streets, realizing I’m not watching the movie anymore.
I’m living it.
Life really has a strange sense of humor.
And honestly…
how unfair can life be?
