World Cities Day is observed annually throughout the world on October 31. The Day serves as an opportunity to promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization, push forward cooperation among countries in addressing challenges of urbanization and contribute to sustainable urban development around the world.

World Cities Day brings Urban October to an end on October 31 each year and was first celebrated in 2014.

World Cities Day 2023 focuses on the theme of “Financing sustainable urban future for all” to explore how to unlock transformative investment in urban planning and achieve adequate fiscal decentralization.

विश्व सहर दिवस हरेक वर्ष कार्तिक १४ मा विश्वभर मनाइन्छ । यो दिवसले विश्वव्यापी सहरीकरणमा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय समुदायको चासो जगाउने, सहरीकरणका चुनौतीहरूलाई सम्बोधन गर्न र विश्वभरको दिगो शहरी विकासमा योगदान गर्ने देशहरूबीच सहकार्यलाई अगाडि बढाउने अवसरको रूपमा कार्य गर्दछ ।

विश्व सहर दिवसले हरेक वर्ष कार्तिक १४ मा शहरी अक्टोबरको अन्त्य गर्छ र पहिलो पटक सन् २०१४ मा मनाइएको थियो ।

विश्व सहर दिवस २०२३ को नारा "सबैका लागि दिगो शहरी भविष्यको वित्त पोषण" हो जस्ले सहरी योजनामा परिवर्तनकारी लगानी कसरी सफल पार्ने र पर्याप्त वित्तीय विकेन्द्रीकरण कसरी हासिल गर्ने भनेर अन्वेषण गर्दछ ।

गरीबी उन्मूलनको लागि अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवस, हरेक वर्ष असोज ३० मा मनाइन्छ । गरीबीमा बस्ने मानिसहरू र व्यापक समाज बीचको समझदारी र संवादलाई बढावा दिनको लागि यस वर्षको विषयवस्तुले चरम गरिबीमा फसेकाहरूले खतरनाक, अनियन्त्रित अवस्थामा लामो समयसम्म कष्टपूर्ण घण्टौं काम गर्छन् तर पनि आफू र आफ्नो परिवारलाई पर्याप्त रूपमा जीवन निर्वाह गर्ने आम्दानी कमाउन सक्दैनन् ।

सन् २०२३ को गरिबी उन्मूलनका लागि संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवसको नारा ‘अभ्यासमा सबैका लागि मर्यादा’ रहेको छ । गरिबी उन्मूलनका लागि संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवस २०२३ को उद्देश्य सम्मानका साथ बाँच्नु भनेको के हो भनेर सचेतना जगाउनु र ध्यानाकर्षण गर्नु हो ।

World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on October 16 to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. The World Food Day encourages governments, policy makers, stake holders, and other organisations to establish policies and programmes against global hunger issues. It is a reminder to foster sustainable agriculture so that everyone has access to safe, sufficient, and nutritious food.

The theme for World Food Day 2023 is ''Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind.''

विश्व खाद्य दिवस सन् १९४५ मा संयुक्त राष्ट्र खाद्य तथा कृषि संगठनको स्थापना भएको दिनको सम्झनामा हरेक वर्ष असोज २९ मा मनाइने अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवस हो । भोकमरी र खाद्य सुरक्षासँग सम्बन्धित अन्य धेरै संस्थाहरूले पनि यो दिवस व्यापक रूपमा मनाउने गरेका छन् । विश्व खाद्य कार्यक्रम, विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन र कृषि विकासका लागि अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय कोष इत्यादि । विश्व खाद्य दिवसले सरकारहरू, नीति निर्माताहरू, सरोकारवालाहरू र अन्य संस्थाहरूलाई विश्वव्यापी भोकमरी मुद्दाहरू विरुद्ध नीति र कार्यक्रमहरू स्थापना गर्न प्रोत्साहित गर्दछ । सबैले सुरक्षित, पर्याप्त र पौष्टिक खानामा पहुँच गर्न सकोस् भनेर दिगो कृषिलाई प्रवर्द्धन गर्न यो एउटा अनुस्मारक हो ।

हिन्दुहरुको महान चाड बडा दशैंको सुरुवात आज घटस्थापना र नवरात्रीको पहिलो दिन हो । नवरात्रिलाई सबैभन्दा शुभ दिन मानिन्छ । उर्जाको स्रोत मानिने माता दुर्गाका विभिन्न नौ रुपको पूजा आराधना गरी यी दिन मनाइन्छ । आज माँ शैल्यापुत्रीको आरधना गर्दै लगातार नौ दिनसम्म क्रमश.. माँ ब्रह्मचारिणी, माँ चन्द्रघण्टा, माँ कुसुमण्डा, माँ स्कन्दमाता, माँ कात्यायिनी, माँ कालरात्री, माँ माहागौरी र माँ सिद्धीदात्री को पुजा गरिन्छ । सामान्यतया असोज वा कात्तिक महिनामा पर्ने नवरात्रलाई शारदीय नवरात्रि भनिन्छ ।

यस वर्षको शारदीय नवरात्रि आजदेखि अश्विना मासको शुक्ल पक्षको प्रतिपदा तिथी अर्थात असोज २८, २०८० मा सुरु हुँदैछ र यसको समापन दुर्गा विसर्जन र दशहरा अर्थात् कात्तिक ०७ २०८० मा हुनेछ ।

Bada Dashain, the great festival of Hindus, begins today and is the first day of Ghatasthapana and Navratri. Navratri is considered the most auspicious day. These days are celebrated by worshiping the nine forms of Goddess Durga, who is considered to be the source of energy.
Today Maa Shailyaputri is worshiped and for nine consecutive days: Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kusumanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa kattyayini, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidatri are worshipped. Navratri usually falls in the month of Asoj or Kattik and is called Sharadiya Navratri.

This year Sharadiya Navratri is starting from today on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwina month i.e. October 28, 2080 and it will end on Durga Visarjan and Dussehra i.e. Kattik 07 2080.

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) is celebrated every year on 13 October. The day is dedicated to create awareness about disasters, their impact on living beings, and preventive measures. One of the main aims behind observing this day is to educate communities about the risks posed by disasters, and prepare them to survive through both natural and human-made disasters.

The theme of UN International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2023 is "Fighting inequality for a resilient future." According to the un.org, "This year's International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction addresses the connection between disasters and inequality.

प्रकोप जोखिम न्यूनीकरणका लागि अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवस (IDDR) हरेक वर्ष असोज २६ मा मनाइन्छ । यो दिन विपद्, जीवित प्राणीहरूमा तिनीहरूको प्रभाव, र रोकथाम उपायहरू बारे सचेतना जगाउन समर्पित छ । यो दिवस मनाउनुको मुख्य उद्देश्य भनेको समुदायलाई विपद् बाट निम्त्याउने जोखिमका बारेमा जानकारी गराउनु र प्राकृतिक तथा मानव निर्मित प्रकोप दुवैबाट बच्न तयार पार्नु हो ।

सन् २०२३ को प्रकोप जोखिम न्यूनीकरणका लागि संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दिवसको नारा ''लचकिलो भविष्यका लागि असमानतासँग लड्ने'' रहेको छ । संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघको अनुसार, यस वर्षको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय प्रकोप जोखिम न्यूनीकरण दिवसले प्रकोप र असमानता बीचको सम्बन्धलाई सम्बोधन गर्दछ ।

विश्व दृष्टि दिवस हरेक वर्ष असोज २५ मा पर्द्छ । विश्व दृष्टि दिवस २०२३ को नारा, ''काममा तपाईंको आँखालाई माया गर्नुहोस्'' भनेर विशेष गरि यो विषयवस्तुले रोजगारदाताहरूलाई आँखा स्वास्थ्य पहलहरूलाई मानक अभ्यास बनाउन र लाखौं कर्मचारीहरूको कल्याण, सुरक्षा र उत्पादकतालाई फाइदा पुर्याउने आँखा स्वास्थ्य बानीहरू प्रवर्द्धन गर्न प्रोत्साहित गर्दछ ।

World Sight Day falls on, 12th October every year. The theme for World Sight Day 2023 is ''Love Your Eyes at Work.'' This theme encourage employers to make eye health initiatives standard practice and promote eye health habits that will benefit the well-being, safety and productivity of millions of employees.

यस विशेष दिनमा, हामीले हाम्रो नेपालका गौरव, दृष्टिका देवता डा. सन्दुक रुइतलाई धन्यवाद दिन चाहन्छौं जसले दृष्टिको समस्या र मोतिबिन्दुसँग लडिरहेका संसारभरका १ लाख ८० हजारभन्दा बढी मानिसलाई दृष्टि दिनुभएको छ ।

विश्व मानसिक स्वास्थ्य दिवस असोज २३ मानसिक स्वास्थ्यको बारेमा कुरा गर्ने र मानसिक स्वास्थ्य महत्त्वपूर्ण छ भनेर सबैलाई देखाउने दिन हो । यो मानिसहरूलाई थाहा दिने दिन पनि हो कि मद्दतको लागि सोध्नु ठीक छ, चाहे तपाई जस्तोसुकै अवस्थाबाट गुज्रिरहनुभएको छ । विश्व मानसिक स्वास्थ्य दिवसको नारा ‘मानसिक स्वास्थ्य एक विश्वव्यापी मानव अधिकार हो’ भन्ने रहेको छ ।

World Mental Health Day (10 Oct) is a day to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. It’s also a day to let people know that it’s okay to ask for help, no matter what you’re going through. As the theme of World Mental Health Day highlights, ‘mental health is a universal human right’.

विश्व हुलाक दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष असोज २२ मा, स्विस राजधानी, बर्न मा १८७४ मा विश्वव्यापी हुलाक संघ स्थापना भएको वार्षिकोत्सवको रुपमा मनाइन्छ । सन् १९६९ मा जापानको टोकियोमा भएको UPU काङ्ग्रेसले यसलाई विश्व हुलाक दिवसको रूपमा घोषणा गरेको थियो । त्यसबेलादेखि विश्वभरका देशहरूले विश्व हुलाक दिवसको भनेर मनाउछन् ।

धेरै जसो देशहरूमा हुलाक लाई घटना, उत्पादन र सेवाहरू परिचय वा प्रचार गर्न प्रयोग गर्छन् । हुलाक कार्यालयहरूले एकताबद्ध, समावेशी, जडान भएका समुदायहरूलाई बढावा दिन महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्छन् । हाल, ५० लाख भन्दा बढी हुलाक कर्मचारीहरूलाई सन्देश, उपहार र सामानदेखि लिएर पैसा र औषधिसम्म विभिन्न प्रकारका अत्यावश्यक र व्यक्तिगत वस्तुहरू हुलाकको माध्यमबाट गर्दछ्न् ।

२०२३ को विश्व हुलाक दिवसको नारा ''विश्वासका लागि सँगै: सुरक्षित र जोडिएको भविष्यको लागि सहयोग'' हो ।

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October, the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern. It was declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. Since then, countries across the world participate annually in the celebrations. The Posts in many countries use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services.

Post offices play a crucial role in fostering cohesive, inclusive, connected communities. Presently, over five million postal employees are entrusted with a variety of essential and personal items, from messages, gifts and goods, to money and medicines.

The theme for 2023 World Post Day is ''Together for trust: Collaborating for a safe and connected future.''

प्राय हरेक दिनलाई राम्रो बनाउनको लागि मात्र एक मुस्कान चाहिन्छ, चाहे त्यो कसैले तपाईंलाई दिने होस्, वा तपाईंले अर्कोसँग साझा गर्नुहोस् । तपाईंको सानो दयाको मुस्कानले कसैको लागि चम्किलो मुस्कान ल्याउन सक्छ ।

हार्वे बल, वर्सेस्टर, म्यासाचुसेट्सका एक व्यावसायिक कलाकार हुन् जस्ले १९६३ मा स्माइली अनुहारहरु सिर्जना गरेका हुन् । त्यो स्माइली बल विश्वव्यापी रुपमा राम्रो इच्छा र राम्रो उत्साहको सबैभन्दा चिनिने प्रतीक बन्यो । १९९९ मा आयोजित त्यो पहिलो विश्व मुस्कान दिवस देखि, २००१ मा हार्वेको मृत्यु पछि हरेक वर्ष जारी छ । प्रत्येक वर्ष विश्व मुस्कान दिवसको नारा एउटै रहन्छ जुन ''दयालु कार्य गर्नुहोस्, एक व्यक्तिलाई मुस्कुराउन मद्दत गर्नुहोस् ।''

Sometimes all it takes to make the day better is a smile, whether it’s one someone gives to you, or one you share with another. Little acts of kindness can bring a shining smile to someone.

Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet. Ever since that first World Smile Day held in 1999, it has continued every year after Harvey died in 2001.

The theme for World Smile Day every year remains the same which is ''Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.''

World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994 which held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.

The world Teachers day theme for 2023 is ''The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage'', the 2023 teachers day celebrations will aim to put the importance of stopping the decline in the number of teachers and then starting to increase that number at the top of the global agenda. Through various activities, they will advocate for a dignified and valued teaching profession, analyse their challenges, and showcase inspiring practices to attract, retain and motivate teachers and educators. It will also examine the ways in which education systems, societies, communities, and families recognise, appreciate, and actively support teachers.

सन् १९९४ देखि विश्व शिक्षक दिवस मनाइँदै आईएको छ जुन हरेक वर्ष असोज १८ मा विश्वभरका सबै शिक्षकहरूको लागि मनाइन्छ । यो १९६६ मा ILO/UNESCO बाट शिक्षकहरुको स्थिति सम्बन्धी सिफारिसलाई अपनाएको वार्षिकोत्सवको स्मरण गराउदँछ, जसले शिक्षकहरूको अधिकार र जिम्मेवारीहरू, उनीहरूको प्रारम्भिक तयारी र थप शिक्षा, भर्ती र रोजगारी, शिक्षण र सिकाइ अवस्थाहरूको मापदण्डहरू सेट गर्दछ ।

सन् २०२३ को विश्व शिक्षक दिवसको नारा ''हामीले चाहेको शिक्षाको लागि चाहिने शिक्षक: शिक्षक अभावलाई उल्टाउनको लागि विश्वव्यापी अपरिहार्य'' भन्ने नाराका साथ सन् २०२३ को शिक्षक दिवस मनाइने उद्देश्यले शिक्षकको सङ्ख्यामा आएको ह्रास रोक्नको लागि र त्यसपछि विश्वव्यापी एजेन्डामा शिक्षकहरुको संख्या बढाउन महत्व राख्नेछ । विभिन्न गतिविधिहरू मार्फत, शिक्षकहरुको सम्मान र मूल्यवान शिक्षण पेशाको लागि, शिक्षकहरुका चुनौतीहरू विश्लेषणको लागि, र शिक्षकहरूलाई आकर्षित गर्न, कायम राख्न र उत्प्रेरित गर्न प्रेरणादायी अभ्यासहरू प्रदर्शन गर्नेछन् । यसले शिक्षा प्रणाली, समाज, समुदाय र परिवारहरूले शिक्षकहरूलाई पहिचान, प्रशंसा र सक्रिय रूपमा समर्थन गर्ने तरिकाहरू पनि जाँच गर्नेछ ।
