A month of Genji Movement: Insurance claims of 23.22 billion, payments of 1.58 billion
So far, insurance claims worth Rs. 23.2278 billion have been filed for the physical structures damaged due to the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24. According to the latest details provided by the Nepal Insurance Authority, non-life insurance companies have paid Rs. 1.5856 billion.
It is said that the advance payment has been made due to the proactiveness shown by the Authority to provide the insurance amount easily and quickly. The Authority has stated that a total of 3,099 insurance claim applications have been filed so far. Of the total claims, 653 are property insurance, 2,206 are motor insurance, 190 are engineering and contract risk insurance, 12 are transport insurance and 38 are other insurance.
Similarly, 396 insurance claim applications have been filed in Koshi Province, 355 in Madhesh, 1,669 in Bagmati, 212 in Gandaki, 246 in Lumbini, 22 in Karnali and 199 in Sudurpaschim Province. According to the Authority, this information is as of Asoj 23.
According to the Authority, Siddhartha Insurance Company has received the highest number of insurance claim applications, i.e. Rs. 5.61 billion 44 million. The company has paid an amount of Rs. 590 million 44 million to the insured. Similarly, The Oriental Insurance has received an insurance claim application of Rs. 5.24 billion 47 million. The company has paid an amount of Rs. 570 thousand.
IGI Prudential Insurance has received an insurance claim application of Rs. 2.75 billion 97 million. The company has distributed an amount of Rs. 300 million 43 million to the insured. Shikhar Insurance has received an insurance claim worth Rs. 2.4 billion 8.6 billion. The company has provided an amount of Rs. 319.4 million.
There are currently 18 non-life insurance companies operating across the country, including a total of 10 micro-insurance companies. Although private structures that were arsoned and vandalized due to the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 are insured, it has been found that government and public property are not insured.
