The Yak Herder team mourns the loss of Nimsdai Purja and the other climbers who perished in the devastating avalanche on Broad Peak, Pakistan.
The news that six of those lost were Nepali has left Nepal in deep mourning. Our heartfelt condolences go out to their families, friends, and everyone whose lives they touched. We honour their courage, dedication, and love for the mountains.
Our feature film, The Yak Herder, was filmed in Langtang—a place that carries its own profound memories of loss. In 2015, a catastrophic avalanche buried an entire village. Even today, many of those who died remain beneath the rubble. Nature has reclaimed the scar, and vegetation now covers much of the avalanche path seen in the production still above, but the memories endure.
Today, our thoughts are with all those grieving in the mountaineering community and across Nepal.
