After heavy criticism and investor protests, SEBON has officially scrapped the 15-minute average price rule for calculating closing prices.
👉 Starting Ashwin 7, 2082 (Tuesday), the last traded price will once again be used as the official closing price of listed companies.
🔎 What Changed?
Old Rule (Scrapped): Closing price = weighted average of the last 10% of traded volume (min 100 units).
New Rule (Effective Now): Closing price = last trade of the day.
💡 Why It Matters for You:
Simpler and easier to track stock movements.
No more confusion between actual trade prices and reported closing prices.
More transparency and investor confidence in how NEPSE reflects the market.
📌 Bottom Line:
The rollback brings back clarity, consistency, and confidence to Nepal’s stock market—making it easier for all investors, especially beginners, to follow stock trends and the NEPSE index.
