The District Membership Committee Rotary Year 2026–27 Initiative: Membership Spotlight: Featuring Rtn. Ishwori Jung Malla Thakuri, President, Rotary Club of Central Banke. He shares his inspiring Rotary journey, the values that drive him, and his vision for strengthening membership. May his words inspire more leaders to join Rotary and help us Create Lasting Impact together.
👉Why did you decide to join Rotary?
✍️I joined Rotary not only to serve the community, but also to learn, build friendships, develop leadership, and inspire others to serve.
👉What would you tell a prospective member about Rotary?
✍️Rotary is much more than a club—it is a community of people who believe in making a difference.
👉What role does membership growth play in strengthening Rotary's impact?
✍️Membership growth plays a vital role in strengthening Rotary’s impact because more committed members mean more skills, ideas, resources and connections available for service. A growing and diverse membership allows clubs to undertake larger and more sustainable projects while reaching more people in need. However, growth should not be measured only by numbers. It should focus on attracting engaged, service-minded members who actively participate, bring fresh perspectives and help build strong, vibrant clubs for the future.
👉If you could introduce one change to enhance the membership experience, what would it be?
✍️If I could introduce one change, I would create a structured “Member Engagement & Mentorship Program” for every club. Each new member would be connected with an experienced Rotarian who would help them understand Rotary, participate in projects, build relationships and discover leadership opportunities. At the same time, members would be encouraged to share their ideas, skills and interests. This would make membership more personal and meaningful, strengthen fellowship, and ensure that every member feels welcomed, valued and actively connected to Rotary’s purpose
