CIN
ACORAB established Community Information Network (CIN) connecting community radios of Nepal into a single satellite network on 29 May 2009. CIN allows stations to receive news and information from the association's studios as well as to share information among stations.
As most community radios are located in remote areas of the country, the options for receiving and sharing of information are few and limited. The challenges of a lack or un-reliability of road and air networks, the continued closures and strikes, slow and disturbed phone and internet connections have been surmounted by this system.
The network dispatches ready-to-broadcast news twice everyday and in a customizable manner. Local issues are shared and highlighted and the voices of the voiceless made accessible. Content and programs can be shared nationwide. Internship opportunity is provides to community radio professionals around the nation and information can be covered in multiple indigenous languages.
