After recent press about that new Proctor Park in the Tinwald Ashbury subdivision, took Alice down for a play so I could have a nosey 👀

Absolutely Council made the right call putting the fence in. That swale is like a lake at the moment. Foreboding. It’s just asking for trouble.

What I’d like to know.. How did Council get such a good deal?? There’s no way I could put a fence in like that for $10k! Typical Dad play, spent about 15mins admiring the handiwork. Gave it a good shake. She’s solid. Amber was sick of me going on about it on the way home.

Anyway - Responsive, decisive and value for money. Not that you can really put a price on parental peace of mind. Top job council 👏

Join Isla, Ruby and the Hampstead B Junior Netball team for their Pre-Loved Clothes Sale TODAY 10am to 2pm. At Hampstead Club Rooms on Bridge Street. I’m told over 30 stalls of pre-loved women's and kids' clothing. Along with Monarch cakes, a coffee van and candy floss machine. All welcome 👚🧤👖

My list of the Happiest Places in Mid Canterbury... 😅🤪

- The spa at EA Networks Centre. Specifically on a Thursday afternoon when Alice has swimming lessons. Drop her with Bev in the main pool, and then boom = 20mins of uninterrupted Dad time joed out in a hot tub. Parenting hack 🏊

- Green waste drop off at the Resource Recover Park – Say what? Hear me out... There's little that matches the sense of purpose one gets from mowing the lawns, loading those clipping into the trailer and rolling down to Range Street. You'll never catch this bloke unhappy at the dump!

- Produce Pals in Tinwald – Probably due to all those healthy snacks but man, do they radiate positive vibes in there!! It's infectious. Honestly, if you're having bad day, head across the bridge and the Pals will cheer you right up. With the EA/Hokonui Best Customer Service certificate still hanging pride of place 🍎🍌

- Lying on the stony shores of Lake Camp on a warm summers afternoon soaking up those rays. Ideally over the New Year break where time doesn't matter. Even sweeter a few years back when there wasn't phone reception.

- The buffet at Hotel Ashburton. Never fails.

- And finally... Rolling into Netherby Fish Shop, Ming Wah or (insert fav local here) tonight because it's FRIDAY! No cooking, no cleaning. Ahhh... Life is good.

Fab to have Maj Cezarne Rodgers and Sgt Theo Vannini from Ashburton Cadet Unit drop by this week 📻

They recently placed 2nd overall at the SA Skills competition at Burnham. They also picked up wins in drill stand and the Espirit De Corps trophy for the team which best displays the values of Comradship, Commitment, Courage and Integrity.
