The new iX3 has officially gained the best EV car I’ve driven title. The level of craftsmanship and details that went into this car is mind blowing. And for it to still retain that BMW DNA makes it even more incredible.

JMC brought out the big guns last week, and the Grand Avenue is here to stay.

JMC is one of China’s major vehicle manufacturers and has a long-standing joint venture with Ford, producing vehicles such as the Ranger and Ford Territory for various markets.

Now, meet the Grand Avenue: bolder, bigger and more capable than its already impressive sibling, the Vigus.

Power comes from a refined 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 155 kW and 500 Nm, paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

And despite its more urban-friendly interior, tech and overall refinement, the Grand Avenue proved that it hasn’t forgotten where it came from. It tackled the off-road obstacles with confidence and made some pretty impressive terrain look easy.

Even more impressive? The 4x4 version is still priced below R600 000.

That makes the Grand Avenue a very interesting proposition in the bakkie market.
